Dan Amos Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Aflac and Aflac Incorporated Dan Amos is chairman and chief executive officer of Aflac and Aflac Incorporated. Mr. Amos joined Aflac in 1973, working in Aflac sales for ten years. In 1983, he was named president of Aflac. He was named chief operating officer in 1987, chief executive officer of Aflac Incorporated in 1990, and chairman in 2001. During Mr. Amos’s tenure as CEO, revenues at Aflac have grown from $2.7 billion to $22.2 billion as of December 31, 2011. In 2000, Mr. Amos was the driving force in launching the company's enduring national advertising campaign featuring the iconic Aflac Duck, which transformed Aflac into a top national brand. In 2011, Aflac was named by FORTUNE magazine as one of America's Most Admired Companies for an 11th time. Aflac is also the only insurance company to appear for 14 consecutive years on FORTUNE's list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For and on Ethisphere magazine’s annual list of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for six consecutive years. Mr. Amos has received the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Award and the Anti-Defamation League's Torch of Liberty Award. In 2010 he was named as one of America's Best CEOs in the insurance category by Institutional Investor magazine, the fifth time he has appeared on the prestigious list. He has also been listed on Chief Executive magazine’s Wealth Creation Index as one of the top 50 CEOs since the index’s inception in 2008. He is the former chairman of the board of The Japan America Society of Georgia and former chairman of the University of Georgia Foundation. Mr. Amos holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia in risk management.
