The Qualification Overall Objective for the Qualifications This handbook relates to the following qualification: 

Level 2 Certificate in Disaster Relief Engineering

The key purpose of the qualification is to show clearly the knowledge, skills and attributes that an individual has gained, especially to inform prospective employers and future providers of disaster relief. Pre-entry Requirements Learners who are taking this qualification will need to be working in an engineering role. Unit Content and Rules of Combination This qualification is made up of a total of 7 mandatory units and 1 Optional unit. To be awarded this qualification the candidate must achieve a total of 15 credits as shown in the table below.

Opportunities for Progression This qualification creates a number of opportunities for progression within the field. Exemption No exemptions have been identified. Credit Transfer Credits from identical RQF units that have already been achieved by the learner may be transferred.

2. Clear a minefield by hand

2.1 Make ready and test mine detectors in accordance with organisational and manufacturer’s instructions 2.2 Carrying out an assessment identifying the area to be cleared by marking out the area in line with organisational instructions 2.3 Find and mark mines using a prodder and a mine detector 2.4 Identify and dispose of mines in line with organisational instructions 2.5 Mark out cleared lanes

2.1 Lift loads manually, ensuring health and safety best practice is maintained 2.2 Use the most relevant technique to move a load using:  parbuckling  rollers  levers
