LEADER IN ME at PS 34 November was all about Leadership as our students begin their journey
in the Leader in Me transformation at PS 34. The Leader in Me provides our school with the vision and language to lead the school in a way that addresses all areas of development. It is designed to help develop leadership skills in our children, help them discover their unique strengths and gives them an opportunity to shine—to become leaders.
What is the Leader in Me? The Leader in Me is a set of principles that are based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People from Steven R. Covey but geared towards children as young as 5. At the core of these principles is that every child is a leader in their own way. Each child has a talent or a set of unique abilities, teaching them the 7 habits will help them capitalize on this talent and they will be the best person they can be. By developing these 7 habits in our children, we are giving them the skills they need to be effective learners and help them succeed in the 21st century. The Leader in Me teaches key skills businesses and educators are looking for in future candidates, which are leadership, accountability, adaptability, initiative and self- direction, cross-cultural skills, responsibility, problem solving, communication, creativity and teamwork.

Parents are encourage to attend! NEW DATE: CEC Meeting @ IS 71 5:00pm December 7 PTA Meeting 6:15pm @ School Cafeteria December 13 5th Grade ELA Parent Workshop 2:45pm December 16 PS 34 Family Night: Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer @ The Theater at Madison Square Garden (Tickets must be purchased in advance. Limited tickets available) December 20 5th Grade Math Parent Workshop 2:45pm December 21 Holiday Chorus Performance December 22 SLT Meeting 2:45pm December 26-30 Winter Recess (School Closed) January 3 Back to School __________________________________
