The Florida Gulf Coast University Department of Athletics is currently recruiting volunteer basketball ushers for the 2016-17 basketball season. Volunteer basketball ushers serve as ambassadors for the Department of Athletics and are critical to creating a safe and welcoming environment in Alico Arena on game days.

We are looking for individuals who are reliable, dedicated, observant, and possess strong communication skills. All volunteer basketball ushers must be able to remain in a standing position for several hours at a time. Communicate with diverse groups of people, and complete various tasks at the instruction of a supervisor. Ushers must be available to attend a training presentation, work most home basketball games and will be required to complete various volunteer documentation, as well as perform within FGCU, ASUN, and NCAA policies. All volunteer basketball ushers must be at least 18 years of age.

  Greeting guests and helping them find their seats.   Anticipating and responding to any issues and concerns that may arise.   Maintaining safe and clear aisles, stairways, and portals.   Developing a strong working knowledge in order to accurately provide directions and answering policy, team, facility and event questions. !   Proactively inspecting areas for potential hazards and reporting them in a timely manner. !   Executing emergency plans as needed. !   Assisting in overall crowd and event management. ! ! ! !
