Dear Pastors, Children’s Workers, and Parents, We are getting geared up for kid’s camp on the Joplin District for the Church of the Nazarene. We are anticipating another exciting year of fun as we enable children to discover the joy of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Here are a few things you will need to know as we prepare for camp this year. Theme: Our theme this year is “Superhero Training Academy” children will discover the superpower within their selves. Place: We will hold camp at Camp CYAKAMO again, which is located near Alba Missouri. I-44 to Carthage exit Hwy 71 N. Take the last Carthage exit, which is Civil War Rd. Take a left back under the highway and go 2 stop signs. Turn Left [west] on Locust Rd. [Hwy D]. Go approx. 5 miles, follow road as it curves hard right. Stay on this road instead of taking the next hard left. Fallow the signs to the camp. Date: This year Primary Camp will begin Monday, July 11th and run through Wednesday, July 13th. Junior Camp starts Wednesday, July 13th and ends on Saturday, July 16th. Cost: The cost of Primary camp this year is $90, The Junior Camp is $100.Children will need snack shack money. Registration forms must be post marked by June 13th .There will be a late fee for all forms postmarked after June 13th... Registration is available day of camp with an extra fee. See application for all the fees. < DO NOT FAX ANY FORMS> ?
DONOT pay children’s fee until the day of camp. We request that all funds be by a church check. No Personal checks. Make checks out to the Joplin SDMI children’s camp. Speaker: Earl and Kimberly long of the Lynchburg, VA Nazarene Church. You can check them out at www.VerticalKids.com Missionary: Our Missionary Speaker is unknown at this time.
Volunteers: If you are interested in volunteering, there are a few things that you will need to keep in mind. There will be a $50.00 fee due at check in. This will cover both camps. COUNSELOR/STAFF applications will be accepted Until July 1st. You must be 15 or finished 8th grade to work at camp and NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 will be allowed to be a counselor/counselor helper. (The only way you will be considered for a Counselor helper is if Counselor Helpers are needed.) Each worker will need to complete an application and have a pastor’s signature. All those under the age of 18 must sign and date the teen guideline form and must have their parents and Pastors Signature. There will be a LIMITED number of spots for teens and adult this year .You will be notified prior to camp if you have been accepted and of your duties. Please make sure a current phone number is provided. All counselors will need to have a current email so devotions & team colors and any information that is needed can be emailed ahead of time, so you can accurately prepare for your group. You will be required to wear one of the 2 staff t-shirts that will be provided for you. These will be collected at the end of each day and washed. Any kind of inappropriate gestures, actions or comments to any other adult or children will NOT be accepted and you will be asked to leave. An “above reproach “attitude is what is expected. We prefer that underage children do not attend camp. This can create unnecessary distractions. We also prefer that if you are a worker for both camps that your children do not stay for both camps. Any exceptions to this must be approved by the camp director and there will be a charge to cover the extra expense the campground will charge. (See Application) CHECK IN: Children Check In will begin @ 2:00 pm for both camps. (Please make sure your group is all present before checking in.) EVERYONE MUST CHECK IN so you can be accounted for. This includes kitchen workers. If you do not stay the night at the camp please let us know this at check in. The swimming pool will open at 2:00 providing that the life guard is present and same for the snack shack.
