Dear Player, Congratulations on being selected to the 2014 Western Michigan Boy's 18 District Cup Team. While not the biggest district in the Midwest, the WMTA has a outstanding tradition of players and teams. You are now a part of that legacy. As such, it is your responsibility to represent yourself, family, and programs with exemplary competitiveness and sportsmanship throughout the event. It is my privilege to coach this year’s squad. I will be substituting for Mark Riley, who has a scheduling conflict with the Kalamazoo College graduation ceremony. Attached are (2) documents that must be completed and emailed back immediately. You may not compete without their completion. Additional information is as follows: Player Fee: $275 - This fee covers all transportation, hotel, and entry charges. Checks should be made payable to the WMTA and brought to departure. Team Departure: 10:30 am Thursday June 12th Kalamazoo College Stowe Stadium Lower Parking Lot Event Date & Location: University Of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN. Friday June 13th - Sunday June15th Hotel Information: SpringHill Suites South Bend Mishawaka 5225 Edison Lakes Parkway, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545 USA Phone: 1-574-271-0832 Meals and Spending Money: Players must be prepared to cover all meal and incidental expenses. (Free continental breakfast is provided each morning) Racket Stringing: On site stringing on site is available for $14.00 per racket. Player Dress: Players must wear tasteful attire during the event. Players are asked to bring (2) pair of white shorts and (1) pair of black shorts. The WMTA will provide a match shirt for the event. A second shirt will be provided by the tournament. Other on court clothing should be dri-fit type material. Event Schedule: The WMTA team will practice at 12:00 noon on Thursday the 12th at Notre Dame Unv. Friday and Saturday we will play two college style matches matches. (6 singles and 3 doubles). Sundays schedule will vary depending on the success of the team. Players will return to Kalamazoo Sunday afternoon or evening. Players should arrange to be picked up at the Kalamazoo College drop off point. Team Line Up: WMTA line-up will be determined by a combination of ranking, qualifier performance and team practice. Team Captains: Davis Crocker and Danny Moyer will serve as the WMTA team co-captains. We congratulate both on their impending college seasons. RULES OF PLAYER CONDUCT- WMTA Behavior Rules The WMTA expects players to come to the Team Cup mentally and physically prepared. We expect players to be responsible, self-motivated, and hard working individuals. All trips or other sponsored activities are designed to develop players to the highest level competition that he/she can achieve. All activities are taken seriously in furtherance of their development. Every player is expected to: 1. Strive to make the most of this opportunity for learning, both on and off the tennis court; 2. Be considerate and respectful of the coaches, staff and other players; 3. Respect the opportunities that students are offered here; and 4. Be positive and supportive of players General Rules 1. Players are expected to stay with team members at all times and must inform the coaches as to their whereabouts at all times. Any deviation from the normal circumstances requires permission from the team coach in advance; 2. Smoking, use or possession of drugs or alcohol, gambling, use of profanity and cheating are strictly prohibited; 3. When under the supervision of WMTA coaches or staff, players are prohibited from driving a motor vehicle or riding with someone who has not been approved by the Staff; 4. Players will wear appropriate tennis attire to all tennis related functions (practice, matches, etc.); 5. Any player who violates the above rules shall be subject to disciplinary measures. Housing Rules 1. Players are expected to abide by the curfew set by USTAPD National Team Coaches or staff; 3. Players will be expected to leave the housing units in the same condition that they were found and shall be kept presentable. All players will be held financially responsible for damages sustained. 4. Players must travel and stay with the group during the entire event. Special transportation and housing arrangements with parents, other players or friends are not allowed unless approved in advance in writing by the WMTA. 5. Use of any flammable devices is prohibited; 6. Players are expected to look presentable during meals and may not wear provocative clothing at any time.
Failure to comply with any of the aforementioned rules of conduct may: 1. Result in notification of parents and WMTA. 2. Result in the player being sent home immediately. The decision of the WMTA Coaching Staff is final in this respect. 3. Result in suspension or dismissal from any Player Development programs and/or tournaments; 4. Result in loss of future opportunities to represent the WMTA in tennis or to attend any future camps. 5. Result in the performance of an appropriate task(s), such as a written explanation and accounting of the incident.
We are pleased to offer you this opportunity. Parents and personal coaches are encouraged to attend the event (at their own expense) with the understanding that they may not interfere with the players or the experience. Parents and personal coaches are responsible for their own arrangements for travel, lodging and meals which shall be independent of the group. I have read and understand the Rules of Player Conduct and will adhere to them while attending the event.
