Starters: The DePaul Blue Demons take on Texas Tech in the second game of the Old Spice Classic on Friday afternoon. The Blue Demons and Red Raiders are scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. ET start in Orlando, Fla. at the HP Field House after both teams lost in their openers on Thursday. DePaul dropped an 86-85 decision to Minnesota while Texas Tech lost, 60-49, against Indiana State. DePaul faces either Arizona State or Wake Forest on Sunday to conclude the tournament. Friday’s 2:30 p.m. ET start can be seen on ESPNU with Bob Picozzi (play-by-play) and Tim Welsh (analyst) calling all the action. Following the Old Spice Classic, DePaul opens its 32nd season at Allstate Arena with Ole Miss visting Rosemont for the BIG EAST/SEC Challenge on Dec. 1. Noting the Blue Demons: The men’s basketball program is 1,374-862 (.615) all-time... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 551 straight games... DePaul’s last game without a three was Feb. 16, 1993 against UAB at Allstate Arena... the Blue Demons are 307-132 (.699) all-time in Rosemont... DePaul is 5-1 (.833) all-time in games at McGrath-Phillips Arena... the Blue Demons have won four of their first five games in two of the last three seasons (2008-09 and 2009-10). The DePaul-Texas Tech Series: DePaul and Texas Tech meet for the just the second time... the Blue Demons won the lone meeting, 50-47, on Dec. 17, 1983... the game was played in Toyko, Japan in a tournament called the Suntory Ball. It Could Happen: A win would give DePaul a 3-1 start for the second time in the last three seasons... a win would also be No. 1,375 in program history...
