DIRECTOR, INSURANCE RISK MANAGEMENT (1 YEAR CONTRACT)

If you have a University degree in business or risk management along with several years’ experience at the senior level and an interest in Real Estate, take the first step: join Triovest as the Director, Insurance Risk Management. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Services, the successful candidate will fill a 1 year contract position of Director, Insurance Risk Management at 40 University Avenue, Toronto, ON. The role will oversee and direct the insurance risk management function; design, procure and maintain a cost-effective risk financing program; provide direction on claims administration activities and adjusting services; design and manage loss prevention/ safety programs working in close collaboration with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), these include regulatory and contractual compliance; oversee the risk management information system for efficient claims management and reporting; liaises with various external departments and support organizational risk management objectives and support risk transfer through development and support of contractual risk transfers and mitigation strategies.

RESPONSIBILTIES:       

Design an appropriate and efficient claims administration infrastructure; supervise the management of claims including property, causality, automobile, environmental, employment-practises liability, fidelity, fiduciary and professional liability. Perform analyses on claims history; study insurance market conditions in order to design the optimal risk financing program and purchase insurance as needed; manage the process for gathering internal underwriting information to produce insurance quotations. Design and implement loss prevention programs; review various forms of contracts, including construction, service agreements, property management and advisory agreements and leases. Participate in the design and operation of risk management information system; develop reports to produce needed financial, claims, litigation and risk profile information; research trends in claim activity and propose solutions or management strategies. Budget and allocate the departments operational expenses and the cost of all risk transfer programs. Oversee the design and implementation of the company’s business continuity and emergency response plans. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:              

University degree in business or risk management. CRM/ ARM designation and/ or CIP. 7-10 years’ experience managing insured risks. Experience managing large real estate insurance programs as preferred. Real estate/ Property Management experience is a definite asset. Functional knowledge of contractual law, business law, construction law and finance. Knowledge of legal and insurance terminology and procedures. Report preparation skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Time management skills. Proven supervisory experience. Ability to identify and manage risk. Ability to apply sense of balance and perspective. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
