DISTRICT DRIVER EDUCATION Summer School Information for Parents
Driver Education courses will be taught at Goddard Academy Gym- 19701 W. 23rd St. S Class Times: 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Driver’s Education Enrollment and Eligibility
Driver’s Education students must be 14-years-old by June 1st. Enrollment is based on first come, first serve basis and is limited to 110 students per session. Attendance to all class sessions is mandatory. Parents are expected to call the high school office at 7944142 if their student is absent. One absence can be made up on the Saturday following the weekly session. No credit will be given with two or more absences. There are 3 Driver’s Education sessions this summer. The session dates are: Session 1: June 1-5
Session 2: June 8-12
Session 3: June 15-19
Class times will be from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Goddard Academy Gym. Online registration is from April 10, 2015 through May 8, 2015. All fees are due by May 8, 2015. No refunds after May 22, 2015. If registering after May 8, 2015, a late fee of $25 will be assessed. Late registration must be made in person at Goddard High School. No registrations after May 15, 2015. There will be no guarantee of acceptance due to space limitation. There will be a mandatory parent and student meeting for all driver’s education students on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 or Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in the Goddard High School Auditorium. Parents and students must attend one of these meetings together. If a student has an Instructional Permit, please bring it to the meeting. In-district student bus transportation to the class session is available for an additional fee. No bus transportation will be provided during the driving portion of the class. Individual instructors schedule the driving sessions.
Setup
Time Frame 1. The student must complete both a one week in-class session and driving sessions scheduled with the instructor. 2. All classes, including the driving session, will be completed by early August. 3. In class sessions as well as the driving component must be completed before a student is considered to be finished with the course.
1. Classes will be held at Goddard Academy. 2. Driving sessions will vary between rural, urban and business districts. 3. Driving sessions will average three students and 2.5 hours per session. 4. Schedule of driving time will be determined no later than the first day of class.
Cost 1. $250 tuition per in-district student and $300 per out-of-district student (a $2.00 application fee for driver education permit is included and non-refundable). 2. $50 transportation fee for in-district student if bus transportation is needed (for in-class instruction only). ,
