21st September 2016 Dear Reception Parents/ Carers, As part of our work on the story ‘Handa’s Surprise’, we will be going on a visit to the local Sainsbury’s superstore in South Ruislip on Thursday 20th October 2016. The children will have a shopping list and will go around the shop to choose their fruit, they will then have the opportunity to scan their items through the till and pay for them. When we return to school the children will be learning about their five senses and be exploring the different fruits from within the story, which they have purchased. The children will be leaving school at different times throughout the day and we may need additional support to help on this trip. If you are available to volunteer to assist on this trip, please indicate this to your child’s class teacher by writing your name on the notice board outside the classroom door. Also, in the event that we have more volunteers than are needed, names will be drawn out of a hat and you will be advised accordingly. Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately, wearing comfortable shoes for walking and a jacket in case it rains. If your child has any allergies to specific fruits or vegetables please ensure you inform your class teacher as soon as possible. There is no cost for this trip and the children do not need to bring any money with them. However, in order to purchase the fruit and vegetables we would like to ask for a voluntary contribute of £1.00. All donations received will be greatly appreciated. Yours sincerely
