Dress Code Policy

Dress Code Policy St. Andrew's College has a clear and well-defined Dress Code. The School expects that a student will be neat and clean in dress at all times, and that his clothing be in good repair and appropriate to the activity or occasion.  Hair must be off the collar and extremes in hairstyles and colour are not permitted. Natural colour is, of course, acceptable  Hair must be neatly groomed  Beards, moustaches, and sideburns below the earlobe are not permitted  Boys with whiskers are expected to shave daily  Earrings or other body piercing, e.g., eyebrows, are not permitted during classes, on School-related trips, or during athletic activities. Earrings must be removed, not just covered, during the academic day The Dress Code is considered to be in effect from the beginning of classes in the morning to the completion of classes at the end of the academic day. A free period is not an adequate reason for ignoring the requirements of the Dress Code. Number 1 or Number 2 Dress should be worn during these times. Any student dressed inappropriately will be sent to his room to change or to the Campus Shop to purchase the appropriate dress clothing. Number 1 Dress  Navy blue blazer with school crest  Grey flannel dress pants or Gordon tartan kilt  Black polished dress shoes in good repair – boots are not permitted  White dress shirt  Belt  Appropriate school tie must be worn: SAC, Scholar's, or Prefect. The School "sports tie" is not permitted with Number 1 Dress  SAC pullover: this is optional, depending on the weather, and is the only sweater that may be worn with Number 1 Dress  Plain dark socks Number 2 Dress (Upper School Only)  Sports jacket with conservative pattern  Dress pants or kilt. Jeans, work pants, khakis, and cargo pants, or pants which will not hold a crease, are not permitted  Dress shoes in good repair (not athletic footwear, boots, hiking shoes, or sandals). Dress shirt – white, pastel colours, fine stripes, or fine patterns are permitted  Belt  Appropriate school tie: SAC, Prefect, First Team, Scholar's, School Sports, Clan  SAC pullover: this is optional, depending on the weather and is the only sweater which may be worn with Number 2 Dress  Dress socks. White athletic socks are not permitted with Number 2 Dress  Pants are to have a tailored pant leg, to be of an appropriate length, and are to be worn around the waist, as in business attire Warm Weather Dress  Warm weather dress begins the Monday after Cadet Inspection. A SAC golf shirt replaces the dress shirt and SAC khaki pants may replace the dress pants (Upper School only for khaki pants). These items can be purchased at the Campus Shop  Necklaces are not to be worn with a golf shirt Casual Dress  Casual dress means shirt with sleeves (no tank tops), pants, socks, shoes, or running shoes, and sweater, windbreaker, or school jacket. Jeans, corduroys, work pants, and sandals may be worn as part of Casual Dress as long as they are clean and in good repair. Clean, respectable shorts may be worn as part of Casual Dress in Cole Hall.
