Step 1 Finding an expert Installer is essential, ideally one Marshalls recommend. Remember you will rely on their advice, expertise and craftsmanship, so plan early. Step 2 Talk through your needs and expectations with several Installers. They will be able to recommend creative and practical driveway solutions and through this discussion you will judge whether they can meet your brief.
Step 3 Today, a driveway can be a complex undertaking with drainage implications under current planning legislation. Permeable paving solutions or soakaways and run-off areas may need to be designed. All Marshalls Register members can advise you on a variety of solutions
Step 4 Get more than one quotation and in writing, make sure they quote like for like. The cheapest may not be the best. Choose the contractor who you feel will deliver what you need. Ask to view local examples of their work, even talk to their former customers.
Step 5 Using a Marshalls Register member you can be sure to receive a quote in writing, an estimated start date and a reasonable estimate of the time required to complete. Never accept a verbal estimate, a written contract is essential and be very wary if they say they can start tomorrow.

In times of heavy or sustained rainfall the drainage system can become overloaded and cause catastrophic flooding. Because of this and changes to Government legislation, it is becoming increasingly important to focus on well balanced, sustainable driveway design. Achieving a well balanced driveway design within the guidelines of the legislation need not be complicated.

An innovative, sustainable alternative to traditional concrete block paving. Marshalls Grassguard® has an open grid pattern that allows grass to grow through the blocks giving a “green” option for driveways and hardstanding areas in front gardens. Grass can be cut and maintained as a conventional lawn hiding the concrete. Ideal for that 2nd car parking space it doubles as a lawn when not in use. The grid pattern enables water to drain through the grass into the ground rather than into drains. Root growth binds the slabs and the base materials together progressively improving their load carrying capability and providing the structure with its strength.

Step 1 Finding an expert Installer is essential, ideally one Marshalls recommend. Remember you will rely on their advice, expertise and craftsmanship, so plan early. Step 2 Talk through your needs and expectations with several Installers. They will be able to recommend creative and practical driveway solutions and through this discussion you will judge whether they can meet your brief.
Step 3 Today, a driveway can be a complex undertaking with drainage implications under current planning legislation. Permeable paving solutions or soakaways and run-off areas may need to be designed. All Marshalls Register members can advise you on a variety of solutions
Step 4 Get more than one quotation and in writing, make sure they quote like for like. The cheapest may not be the best. Choose the contractor who you feel will deliver what you need. Ask to view local examples of their work, even talk to their former customers.
Step 5 Using a Marshalls Register member you can be sure to receive a quote in writing, an estimated start date and a reasonable estimate of the time required to complete. Never accept a verbal estimate, a written contract is essential and be very wary if they say they can start tomorrow.

An innovative, sustainable alternative to traditional concrete block paving. Marshalls Grassguard® has an open grid pattern that allows grass to grow through the blocks giving a “green” option for driveways and hardstanding areas in front gardens. Grass can be cut and maintained as a conventional lawn hiding the concrete. Ideal for that 2nd car parking space it doubles as a lawn when not in use. The grid pattern enables water to drain through the grass into the ground rather than into drains.
