t the time of going to press, a decision on the Haven Green inquiry, which would decide the fate of the Bike Hub, is still awaited. On 9th May another inquiry was due to start, into the 9-42 Broadway proposal to redevelop the whole block between Morrisons and the traffic lights by Metrobank. The scheme included replacing the Carphone Warehouse building on the corner with a new one set back further to the west. This would allow a northbound contraflow cycle lane to be built leading up to Haven Green, a proposal long supported by ECC. Four days before the inquiry would have started, the site was bought by British Land who also own Ealing Broadway Centre. The inquiry has been cancelled and British Land will consider options for the site. ECC hope that our views will be taken firmly on board alongside those of the several groups who opposed the previous scheme.

reeze is a programme run by British Cycling to encourage women's cycling in the UK. Led by women for women, Breeze relies on a group of volunteer ride leaders, known as Breeze Champions, to support other women on guided bike rides across the UK. Breeze recognises that some women face obstacles in gaining the confidence and skills to enjoy cycling, and might feel more comfortable in a women-only group. I have recently trained as a Breeze

Champion with a group of other women in Ealing and neighbouring Boroughs, and we are now in the process of setting up an Ealing-based West London Breeze group. We will be offering rides on weekdays as well as weekends, shorter rides for women new to cycling and longer, more adventurous rides for those who want to go a bit further. We hope to get started by late June or early July, to enjoy a summer of cycling and getting to know women cyclists in the area.

he second annual David Eales Memorial Amsterdam Ride is looking for riders, and you're invited! In 2016, six of us rode to Amsterdam to raise money for the London Cycling Campaign and SJS Awareness, in memory of David Eales. We were unlikely “tourers”, with our heavy commuter bikes that had rarely done more than a Sunday Leisurely Ride. But we succeeded, and we're ready to show you how we did it. Cycling in Belgium and the Netherlands is far less stressful than it can be in the UK, with everything from surfacing and safety through to signposting sorted out to a high level of quality and attention to detail. The terrain is flat, and people cycling through are seen as welcome guests rather than an obstacle to motoring. You'll spend two days in Belgium and two in the Netherlands, riding along canals, past farms, and through cities. With everything you need in
your panniers, you'll get to experience the low countries in a way no train or car journey could provide. If this sounds like your idea of a pleasant adventure, ask about the ride at one of ECC's event stalls. We have a limited run of printed ride manuals, and you can download the PDF version from our Web site: h t t p : //z o rk. n e t/a m s te rd a m
You can follow us on Twitter at @eales_ride, and subscribe to our email mailing lists from the Web site. The ride schedule for this year is as follows: S E P TE M B E R 2 0 1 7 1 2-1 3
