The Secret Garden The Secret Garden continues to develop at a rapid rate and is used each week by Reception and Year One. Increasingly it is also used to support the learning of other classes across the Federation. This month we will host a Forest School network meeting and look forward to sharing our increasingly impressive resource with other local schools and nurseries.

It has been a highly successful year in the Early Years. The provision of teaching and learning for our children is consistently outstanding and the experiences available to our youngest learners are always of a very high quality. We have a fantastic teaching team in place and the recent appointment of Miss Julie Doughty as Early Years Lead is a real positive for the continued development of Early Years provision at St Aloysius. The challenge curriculum and high expectations are well embedded into the curriculum and the response of the children has been a delight to see. Children respond very well to the routine and thrive on the exciting and engaging activities that staff so carefully and thoughtfully prepare for them. Children are tracked well and make very good progress from their starting points. Gaps in learning are swiftly identified and action taken to quickly address these. Classroom environments are constantly updated to meet and extend children's own interests and to move their learning forward. We can take real pride in the further developments of the Secret Garden and the positive impact this has had on all children, especially our most vulnerable.

2016 Data Summary: 73.8% GLD achieved. Data summary shows an improving trend for the % of children achieving in all Prime Learning Goals and all Specific Learning Goals, especially in Literacy. This year girls outperform boys across the Early Years Curriculum, due to the larger number of low attaining boys in the reception cohort, many of who are Pupil Premium (85% boys) or SEN (50% boys). Narrowing this gap will be a priority for 2016-17. Reception Pupil Premium
