Muslims are forbidden to drink alcohol, and liquor stores, most of which are run by nominal Christians, have come under attack in the past by Muslims who believe the stores should be banned. A radical Muslim last year slit the throat of a Christian in Alexandria who was selling alcohol. The attacker said he would kill all sellers of alcohol if he could. and opened fire shouting, “Christians and pagans!” Both brothers were killed. One young man who witnessed the killings, ran after the gunman who was fleeing in the tuk tuk. Noticing the young man, the gunman stopped and said, “I could kill you, but I don’t know if you are Muslim or Christian, so run away.” As of this writing, there have been no arrests.
