He joins Kam Jones, his brother Kerry Thomas Jr., and David Morgan II as Roadrunners with 1,000-plus career receiving yards. • Jared Sackett’s 20-yard first-quarter field goal was his 12th of the season and career. Sackett, a true freshman, is 12-of-13 on field goal attempts this season. • Nate Gaines’ interception of Zack Greenlee in the first quarter was his third of the season, while the ensuing 15-yard return was his longest. Gaines’ three INT this season match his career-best from the 2015 season and move him into sole possession of second on the UTSA all-time list with seven career picks. • Jalen Rhodes’ 17-yard TD run in the second quarter was the 18th score of his career. The 18 TDs rank fourth on the UTSA all-time list, trailing only David Glasco II (22), Jarveon Williams (20) and Evans Okotcha (19). • Dalton Sturm’s 48-yard touchdown to Kerry Thomas Jr. with 7:48 to go in the second quarter was the 47th of his career, making him the UTSA all-time passing TD leader. Sturm passed Eric Soza’s 46 TD passes for the career record. • Kerry Thomas Jr.’s TD reception extended his UTSA career record to 16. Thomas Jr. has now scored 96 career points, tying with Eric Soza for the fifth-most in UTSA history by a non kicker. • Jalen Rhodes’ second rushing TD (3Q, 1 yard) capped a 17-play drive that consumed 8:28 off the clock. The drive was the longest by UTSA this season in both number of plays and time of possession. • Devron Davis’ 22-yard interception return for a touchdown (4Q, 10:58) was the first score of his career. It was Davis’ second career interception. Moreover, it was UTSA’s third defensive score of the season. Coincidentally, it was the first pick-6 by a Roadrunner since Michael Egwuagu’s against UTEP on Oct. 3, 2015. • Yannis Routsas, who was named to the Ray Guy Award Watch List earlier in the week, averaged 44.8 yards over his five five punts, including three inside the 20 and a long of 52. • UTSA converted each of its three red zone trips, improving its season total to 20-of-21 (95.23 percent). MISC. • The contest marked the 78th game in UTSA program history. The Roadrunners have an all-time record of 37-41. • UTSA played its 54th consecutive televised game.
