A fter hiking tw o loads up A rrigetch Creek, we clim bed a 5.7 route on the south face o f E lephant’s Tooth on July 17. On July 20, we clim bed what is probably a new route on the A lbatros, follow ing parallel cracks on the right side o f the south face (IV, 5.9). We descended the southw est ridge by dow n-clim bing and a few rappels. N ext we attem pted a route on the beautiful triangular orange south face o f C aliban. Large, unstable flakes and exfoliated plates forced us to retreat. We then third-and fourth-classed gullies and slabs to C aliban’s east sum m it. We concluded our trip with an eight-day float in inflatable kayaks down the A latna River, encountering num erous bears and w olves. N
