Developmental courses (Basic English Skills, Intermediate Algebra, ASC courses, etc.) are not institutional credits and DO NOT count toward the 12-hour rule. If you are taking repeat classes that you received a ‘D’ or better in previous semesters, we can only count one of these classes toward the 12-hour rule (We can count all repeats in which you received an “F” previously) FIRST SEASON OF COMPETITION: Entering freshmen must meet two of the following three: Overall high school GPA of 2.0 or higher Graduated in the upper half of your high school graduating class Minimum score of 18 on ACT or 860 on SAT To be eligible in your second full time semester, you must also have passed a minimum of 9 institutional credits in your first semester Transfers/existing students are students who have completed at least 2 full-time academic semesters. Non-required elective courses and credits toward a non-required minor do not count) 2.0 GPA: Your cumulative GPA must be a 2.0 or higher ** Regardless of number of seasons, you must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher once you reach junior status academically (accumulated 60 or more total institutional credits) ** Repeated courses: If you failed them in prior attempts, we can count them. If you received a D or better previously, we cannot count them toward the 24-hour rule. Keep in mind that your cumulative GPA is based on the grade you got in your last attempt. In other words, if you receive a ‘C’ and then repeat the class and receive an ‘F’, the ‘C’ is wiped out and only the ‘F’ is used to calculate your GPA. ** All new transfers must complete a Transfer Form. Transfers from a 4-year institution: You must be in residence at Mayville State for 16 calendar weeks before you can be eligible, unless your former institution provides us with a written release. **If you have never competed for an NAIA school, you must be deemed eligible through the NAIA Eligibility Center before you can compete.
