A view of the Cerro Castillo In May [late Fall] in the Chilean National Reserve of the same name in the Patagonian region of Chile
According to Wikipedia article on “Cerro Castillo” - Cerro Castillo is a jagged rocky peak located in the Aysén del General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Region of Chile, within the Cerro Castillo National Reserve. Cerro means hill in Spanish and Castillo means castle in Spanish, and the steep basalt walls of the mountain indeed make it look like a castle atop a hill or mountain. On its sides are a few small glaciers that feed several small lakes.” Linda Sufficool, their Mother who has nerves of steel, tells their story: “The duo started last June 4th in Deadhorse, Alaska, and have travelled about 17000 miles in the Western Hemisphere - practically pole to pole. Return tickets to fly to Buenos Aires and then on to Miami have been purchased for travel on June 11th. At that point, they are renting a van and driving to the Tampa area. Yes, the bikes are flying back with them - although at one point, they did mention that they might ditch them off Argentina to help build a reef. I think that was when they had finished climbing the Andes and were having a low point with the 90 pound bikes. LOL. Plans are to come my way mid July. I hope to have an open house so interested friends can stop by and meet them. Tell people they will not be wearing the same clothes they have worn for the past year....” Watch this space for more information. This is a pair of young men you’ll want to meet.
