We look forward to seeing who has the best Festive Jumper! End of Term/Start of Term For Sixth Form students the last day of lessons is Wednesday 20 December. Only students directed to attend on Thursday must attend but all students are welcome to attend on Thursday for private study. This will not affect bursary payments. Lessons start on Thursday 4 January. Students are expected in at 8.25am for a normal day. It is week 1 on our return. Attendance and punctuality remain a key focus and it is already clear how attendance can affect students’ progress. (EFFORT and ATTITUDE)

January Mocks Year 12 students will sit MOCK papers in classes in the New Year. A timetable has been shared on google classroom and students must ensure they know when the mocks are for all their subjects. Students will sit the papers in normal lesson time and data will be available to parents later in January. We have set students a target to move up a grade from October reports. Revision over the holidays is vital. Any gaps in folders need to be addressed and students must develop suitable independent study skills. We expected a minimum of 8 hours independent study in the first term and students should be working towards a minimum of 10 hours in the second term. The revision for mocks in many ways is as important as the results if study skills and effective methods are being developed. (SYSTEMS and PRACTICE)

ULAS and Work Experience (VISION) Students have been introduced and registered to ULAS, an on line careers resource during Progression Hour. We will use ULAS for CV writing and personal statements but its biggest advantage is for students to personalise a feed updating all relevant opportunities in their selected areas of interest. This will include Open Days, work experience and career opportunities. Please support your son by asking to see their ULAS pages. Work experience has also been outlined to students and more information is on google classroom and the school website. Students wishing to have work experience need to have their own find forms in by 9 February 2018.

If you have any questions regarding the sixth form please do not hesitate to contact me at school. Thank you for your continued support and I wish you all every success and good health for 2018. Yours sincerely

Mr Simon Purrier Director of Sixth Form
