Analyzing Data & Making Systematic Decisions
Walkthrough Checklists Format: Greeting. Observation. Research or impact on student achievement. Words of encouragement.
Walkthrough Feedback Sample Format: Greeting. Observation. Research or impact on student achievement. Words of encouragement. It was a treat visiting your classroom today. You provided students with clear verbal prompts and gestures of when to respond during choral responses. It was clear that students' minds were intellectually engaged in the activity, as students chorally responded to your questions accurately. Additionally, you monitored students responses, looking around the room to ensure that students were responding accurately. This allowed you to know whether students were understanding the concept and whether to provide more instruction, more practice, or move to the next task. Awesome work!
Revisit Data-Qualitative & Quantitative
Its all about the conversation! Data conversations gave me a FOCUS and a DIRECTION for student learning and differentiation in my classroom
Data conversations have given me the chance to look at EACH INDIVIDUAL student more closely and discuss trends we see with you and our teaching partners. It has helped guide me when CREATING GROUPS for small group instruction - I can use the DATA TRENDS to group kids with similar needs together.
Looking at data during data conversations has helped me to look at other ways I can use data for GROUPING and INSTRUCTION. Data conversations give me TIME TO REFLECT on my instructional practices and adjust instruction as needed; PINPOINT areas of need, and brings positive energy to my grade level team to keep the focus on learning.
Our data conversations have helped me to be MORE REFLECTIVE in my teaching. It allows me to sit down and see what is really working and benefiting my students. Our data conversations also highlight content areas where I may need to provide extended or more in depth instruction. It helps me HOLD MYSELF ACCOUNTABLE for my instruction.
