ASSISTANT TRAFFIC TECHNICIAN, PERMANENT
Closing Date: March 20, 2017 Department: Environmental & Operational Services File Number: SV17-30 Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week (required to participate in rotating on-call system to respond to after-hour emergencies) Salary: $27.97 - $32.52 per hour
PURPOSE & SCOPE: Reporting to the Operations Supervisor and under the general direction of the Traffic Technician, this position is responsible for carrying out the function of design, supervision of installations, inspection, construction and maintenance of all types of traffic control devices. The position will be required to participate in a rotating on-call system to respond to emergency after-hour situations. EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TRAINING/SKILLS:
Minimum Journeyman Electrician Graduate from a three (3) year Community College Engineering Technologist Program (Electrical or Electronic) Eligibility for membership in the Ontario Association of Certified Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) or equivalent professional/trade association Traffic Signal Certification Level 1 and Level 2 from IMSA preferred “G” Driver’s Licence required Must have computer skills including Microsoft Office, specialized traffic control and design software together with computer hardware experience for interconnection to traffic control equipment; Traffic/Syncro 7.0/Sim traffic software training and demonstrated ability to operate the program required Provide a suitable, reliable vehicle for daily discharge of duties
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Intermediate level of knowledge and three years of related experience in the design, installation and maintenance of traffic control equipment and systems or equivalent
