FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE MANAGER #PlantMaintenanceSuperintendent #HeadofFacilitiesMaintenance #ProductionManager An oil and gas facility isn’t going to run itself. That’s where you come in. You handle all of the day-to-day activities needed to keep a facility running smoothly. You schedule and oversee the rest of the team and equipment needed to help run it. Are you a great multitasker? Can you see how the pieces of a puzzle come together to create the big picture? That could be a great foundation for this career. Read on.

What does this career look like?

HOW DO I GET HERE? Facility Operation Managers typically require completion of a college or university program in a discipline related to facility operation and maintenance. Maintenance Managers require completion of a college or university program in electrical or mechanical engineering or in another discipline related to building maintenance. For both roles, an equivalent combination of technical training and experience in administration or maintenance may also be acceptable.

You look after all of the systems and equipment, excluding pressurized systems handled by Power Engineers, to make sure they are working properly. You also work closely with plant personnel, external suppliers and corporate management to see the big picture. In the oil and gas industry, proper maintenance is important. By properly maintaining a plant or facility, you help to increase the “up-time” of a facility, the time the plant is available for production. Your efforts can help increase operating revenue, extend the lifetime of an asset, and, reduce environmental impacts.
