Catering • Exploration Place has an open catering policy. Outside caterers must be licensed and able to provide a current copy of their certificate of insurance, valid through the date of the entire event. • Caterers and sub-contractors are responsible for notifying an Exploration Place staff member on their arrival. • Caterers are responsible for all preparations before the event, clearing tables and clean up after the meal is served. All areas used by caterer, including kitchen, must be cleaned by caterer. • Restricted access to Exploration Place’s kitchen will be allowed by outside caterers.

Alcoholic Beverages • All alcohol served at Exploration Place must be served by a licensed bar service or caterer. • Licensed bar service or caterer must be able to provide a current copy of liquor license and certificate of insurance, valid through the date of the entire event. • The consumption of alcohol by persons under 21 years of age is prohibited on the premises. • Exploration Place is not responsible for guests that consume alcohol in excess while on the property and after the event has ended. • Lessee shall be responsible and ensure that inebriated guests are not served additional alcohol. • Alcoholic beverages are not allowed outside of the building at any time. • For events occuring during the museum’s business hours, no alcohol is allowed where public is present.

Damage to Property

Grand Hall More than 3,500 square feet comprises this elegant area. It accommodates up to 250 guests for a seated reception or up to 400 for a more casual cocktail reception. The west wall gives a spectacular view of the Reflecting Pond.

• Lessee is responsible for any damage or vandalism done to Exploration Place by guests or vendors during this rental. • Exploration Place will not be held responsible for any vandalism or theft in the parking areas. • Exploration Place will not be held responsible for damages or injuries caused by actions of natural elements. • Exploration Place reserves the right to prohibit food and drink in selected exhibit areas.

Disruptive Behavior WaterWay Hall In this breathtaking 3,000 square-foot space, experience a stunning view of the tranquil Arkansas River. Accommodates up to 250 people for a seated reception or up to 400 for a ceremony.

Main Lobby This versatile space is surrounded by glass windows giving a scenic view of downtown Wichita and the Arkansas River. Seats up to 120 for a seated reception or 250 for a more casual event.

NATIONAL TRAVELING EXHIBIT

Feb. 4 - April 30, 2017

Exploring Flight and Design Pavilion Celebrate the world of aviation. Fly like the Wright brothers as you lie on a horizontal simulator. Aim an airplane propeller on a wall of shimmering discs to create 40-foot-tall wind patterns. Step into a real Cessna Skycatcher airplane. Exploring Our Only Home Pavilion Encounter Kansas and its people, places and environments. Touch a real mammoth tusk. Step into a 20-foot-tall tornado or dare to enter our tornado simulator and experience an EF1 tornado! Examine the inner workings of an aquifer. Measure personal water use and find steps to conserve. Where Kids Rule Pavilion takes you back to the days of knights in shining armor, towering stone castles and more. Traveling Exhibit Pavilion is an ever-changing area, but has included some of the most spectacular exhibits in the world, such as: Titanic, Our Body: The Universe Within and Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination. Ask about the current national traveling exhibit Exploration Place is hosting.

• Exploration Place reserves the right, in its discretion, to escort any guests off the premises. • Exploration Place is not responsible for any injuries that occur before, during or after rental events.

Severe Weather • In case of severe weather, Exploration Place staff will execute severe weather procedures. • If an event is cancelled within a 48-hour period prior to the event due to acts of God, terrorist activity, riot or civil commotion, i.e., “Force majeure,” Lessee shall have the right to reschedule the event to another day, to be mutually agreed upon with Exploration Place, without further cost.

Decorations • Decorations and entertainment set up may not take place earlier than the time determined in Rental Agreements. • Decoration must be removed immediately upon termination of an event. • Permanent attachments and decorations cannot be hung from the ceiling or any walls. Any damage from hung decorations will be repaired at Lessee’s expense. • Candles are permitted if used with a preapproved holder. The holder must be tall enough to cover the flame by 2 inches. • All entertainment must be approved by Exploration Place. • Amplified instruments are not permitted without prior approval. • Exploration Place requests the right to review all invitations sent to guests of the event prior to printing. • No substances may be applied to the dance floor such as powder, etc. • No devices may be used to simulate fog. • Rice, birdseed, crepe paper, rose petals, confetti or bubbles may not be thrown or used in Exploration Place. • Any items rented from Exploration Place, whether directly or through a sub-contractor, are the responsibility of Lessee.

RENTAL PROCEDURES & BUILDING REGULATIONS

Boeing Dome Theater and Planetarium This 165 seat theater presents digital films displayed on a 60-foot diameter dome that allows the viewers to become totally immersed in a unique visual and audio experience. This space is available for ceremonies. Handicap seating also available.

Rental of Facility • All signed Rental Agreements must be submitted to Exploration Place ten days after it is initiated and no later than two weeks prior to the event date. • A $300 deposit is required to secure the event date and space. This deposit is nonrefundable. • Rental Agreements must be signed within two weeks of deposit. • Lessee shall not assign Rental Agreement or sublet the premises. • Exploration Place may terminate an event with no refund of rental price if conditions of Rental Agreement are not adhered to or if Lessee or guest is conducting illegal or unsafe activities. • All city and county ordinances, along with state and federal laws, will be observed. Lessee shall be responsible for any fines, penalties or other damages incurred due to negligence or violence of Lessee or Lessee’s guests. • Lessee indemnifies Lessor from all claims arising directly from Lessee’s utilization of Exploration Place. • Exploration Place will not be responsible for damages or injuries resulting from the conduct of employees or guests of the Lessee, whether negligent or otherwise. • Lessee will have one hour after the event to clean the facility of any decorations or trash before incurring additional rental charges. • Exploration Place will not be responsible for any property left before or after rental. • Exploration Place is a non-smoking facility. • No person, firm or corporation shall rent Exploration Place for the purpose of generating funds for any organization without the event being approved by Exploration Place prior to Rental Agreement being signed. • Exploration Place prohibits renting the facility with the purpose of resale of admission tickets. • Lessee shall provide check-in staff at the Main Lobby. • Children attending events must be supervised at all times. • Exploration Place will enforce strict security to unauthorized areas of the facilities. All areas not included in the Rental Agreement will be blocked off to event guests. It is recommended that it be clearly explained to guests, before the event, what areas will be available to them during the event. • Exploration Place must be informed in advance of any vendors or caterers sub-contracted by the primary vendor or caterer. Renter must inform sub-contractors of all rules and regulations in relation to their event. • All prices are subject to change without notice.

Kemper Creative Learning Studio Perfect for a lecture, workshop or other presentation, this 145-seat theater includes audio/visual equipment, sound system and stage lighting. Handicap seating also available.

Board Room This versatile space for meetings or small luncheons can seat up to 30 people, includes a large projector screen and dry-erase board. The space can also be used as a bride’s room.

WaterWay Terrace Dine alfresco on the terrace, adding a peaceful, scenic view of the Arkansas River and the Keeper of the Plains. Accommodates 200 seated or 400 casual.

Festival Plaza This large outdoor area to the southwest of the building captures the open ambiance of the great outdoors and can accommodate up to 1,200 people for a company picnic, class reunion and more!

Picnic Grove This 27,000 square foot wooded area with picnic tables is an ideal place for family gatherings and picnics. The Picnic Grove has easy access to Exploration Park for hours of outdoor fun. Seating available for 200 or 500 for a cocktail reception.

What if I need additional hours?

Extend any event for $150/hour up to midnight.

When can I setup?

In the Grand Hall, event setup can begin when Exploration Place closes to the public at 5 p.m. WaterWay Hall set up can be earlier in the day, ask for details. What is included in my room rental?

All indoor rentals include staffing, tables, chairs and security. While Exploration Place does not carry all things needed for events (e.g. linens, furniture, lighting, etc.) we are happy to give recommendations for any additional rentals you may need.

If I am planning an outdoor event, is there a rain contingency?

For inclement weather, Exploration Place requires a 48-hour notice to change the setup of the event. In the case of rain we are happy to reschedule the event for an agreed upon date.

What if I have to cancel my event?

Exploration Place requires a 30 day notice for all cancelled events. If cancellation occurs within 30 days of event, full rental amount will be due.

Who is responsible for clean-up?

You are responsible for anything you or your guests bring into the event. Exploration Place will be responsible for the breakdown of chairs, tables, trash, etc.
