FACT SHEET HOUSING OPTIONS FOR YOUNGER PEOPLE General Needs Housing Clwyd Alyn Housing Association will accept applications from people aged 16 and over, however, applicants aged 16 – 17 will only be offered a tenancy if they are able to supply details of a rent guarantor. The guarantor must be over 18 and in a position to accept responsibility to make rent payments in the event that the tenant fails to do so and to ensure that the tenant carries out all of their responsibilities under the terms of the tenancy agreement. Supported Living Service Some young people may need support before moving to independent living. Clwyd Alyn Housing Association offers a range of supported living arrangements for younger people in various projects across Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire & Wrexham. Residents must be aged 16 and over and must be referred by the local authority’s homeless and housing options team. Experienced staff work in partnership with residents in order to prepare them for independent living. Each resident will have their own individual support plan which meets their specific needs. Listed below are some of the types of support that can be provided:

Wrexham Wrexham Foyer The Wrexham Foyer provides comfortable and safe accommodation for single homeless people aged between 16 and 25. The Wrexham Foyer comprises 19 single rooms, each with en-suite shower and toilet. The Foyer is part of the Wrexham Foyer complex close to Wrexham town centre. There are three well-equipped kitchens and lounge areas where tenants can prepare their own meals (with support if required), occasionally take part in communal meals and relax watching TV or a DVD. Applying for Accommodation Applications will be considered from those aged between 16-25, who have housing or housing related support needs. Referrals are welcomed from any agency that deals with young people. Flintshire Erw Groes Based in Holywell, Erw Groes provides short-term temporary/ emergency accommodation for homeless families and pregnant women. The project comprises 11 units of high quality, fully furnished accommodation with 1, 2 and 3 bed flats available. All the units have their own facilities, including a lounge, bathroom and shared kitchens. A resource room is also available together with shared laundry facilities, car parking and gardens to the front and rear. There are 4 self contained flats with a shared laundry on site. Applicants must be single, aged between 16 and 25 and an expectant mother or mother with a baby.

Greenbank Villas consists of 10 single bedrooms each with en-suite shower and toilet, set in a three-storey townhouse with a large garden. There is a well-equipped shared kitchen on each of the three floors. There is also a well equipped communal lounge for socialising and meetings. The Llys Emlyn Williams Hostel Senior Project Officer on 01352 712218 Bodhyfryd Bodhyfryd is a direct access hostel providing accommodation for single homeless men and women aged 18 and over. Situated in Holywell there are 5 single rooms with a shared kitchen diner where residents can prepare meals, watch TV and socialise. Applications will be considered from homeless people aged 18+ who have housing and housing related support needs. The Quay Project comprises of 2 elements: Llys Maes Teg: accommodates four young people aged between 16-25 who have complex needs and who may have failed in other types of supported accommodation or in their own tenancies. It is designed to prepare young people towards independent living, or a move to other types of supported living accommodation. Dispersed flats: Second stage accommodation, either for those moving on from Lys Maes Teg or for residents currently living in either Llys Emlyn Williams, Bodhyfryd or Greenbank Villas. The Dispersed flats consists of 12 high quality, self-contained furnished flats dispersed throughout Flintshire. Referrals to Llys Maes Teg, for applicants who are homeless and have complex needs should be made direct to the senior Project Officer. Allocations to Llys Maes teg are made by a Selection and Allocation panel which meets regularly. Referrals to the dispersed flats are made to the Senior Project officer at the Quay project from from staff at Llys Emlyn Williams, Bodhyfryd or Greenbank Villas and allocations are based on suitability and merit.

Conwy Isallt Isallt provides supported accommodation for single homeless people aged between 16 and 25 years. Based in Llandudno, the project has 12 single en-suite bedrooms together with a large shared kitchen and communal lounge, dining room and laundry facilities. In addition there are 13 outreach properties which consist of one bedroomed, self contained properties situated in Colwyn Bay, Llandudno, Llandudno Junction and Conwy. Applications will be considered from individuals aged between 16-25 who are in need of housing and housing related support and have a local connection to the county of Conwy. Denbighshire Y Dyfodol Y Dyfodol provides accommodation for single homeless people aged between 16 and 25 years. The project consists of : Crescent Court - a purpose built hostel with 7 self contained flats, one of which is accessible for wheelchair users. New Project – 4 one bedroomed flats in the west end of Rhyl with staff providing 24 hour responsive support. Outreach Properties – these consist of 6 one bedroomed flats in the centre/ west end of Rhyl. There are also 7 one bedroomed flats in Bruton Park and a further 4 flats on Aberkinsey Park.
Applications will be considered from young people aged 16-25 years who are in housing or support need. Referrals are also considered from statutory and voluntary agencies on behalf of the individual. In addition, referrals may come from the Denbighshire Homeless Section, on 01824 712944. It aims to support young people to deal with issues, obstacles and problems which can arise from living independently in shared accommodation. Accommodation usually consists of a house or a flat where a number of tenants have sole use of a single room and have access to a shared kitchen, bathroom and in some cases a living room.
