FAITH CRC APRIL AND JUNE COUNCIL NOTES, 2016  Council elected Scott Smits to be the new Timothy School Board member representing Faith.  Council received several reports from the Staff Relations Committee on the ongoing search for a new Director of Youth Ministries.  Council installed Greg Lanenga to the office of Elder and John Tazelaar to the office of Deacon.  Council reviewed a summary of the 2016 CRC Synod. Highlights of this year’s Synod included the adoption of pastoral advice regarding samesex marriage, the approval of new candidates for ministry, and a mandate to review and re-imagine the ministry share system which funds many of our denominational ministries.  Council received a report from Ray Middel and Al De Los Santos on their time at the Classis Northern Illinois meeting in March at Morrison CRC.  Council approved by Motion the establishment of a Safe Church Team and a Classis Church Visitation Team.  Council received a report from the Property Committee about acquiring a small strip of property adjunct to the Oakland Ave parsonage. Financial outlay is within the committee budget.  Council observed Mutual Censure as Faith prepared for Communion focusing on aspects of the church life “Equipping” God’s people.
