Orbital Mechanics
The Six Sigma Management System is rocking the business world by helping organizations meet or exceed customer requirements through greater efficiency and profitability. This course shows students how to identify and manage process-improvement projects using the systematic, analytical Six Sigma approach. This course also prepares students to take the American Society for Quality Green Belt Certification exam. * In Westwood this Fall, coming to South Bay in 2014 Required course in the Lean Six Sigma Sequential Program. Elective course in the Manufacturing Engineering Certificate.
TUE, SEP 24– NOV 26 This course presents the fundamentals of orbital mechanics or astrodynamics, emphasizing the engineering aspects of the subject matter. Designed for engineers, scientists, and students (graduate or undergraduate) who desire a better understanding of the fundamentals and applications of orbital mechanics. Required course in the Astronautical Engineering Certificate.
Managing Technical Teams MON, SEP 23– NOV 25 Coordinating the efforts of individuals with diverse technical backgrounds has become a vital method of meeting organizational goals and objectives in multi-disciplined environments. This course introduces students to the concepts and develops the skills necessary to make effective use of technology and positive interpersonal dynamics to achieve technical objectives. Required course in the Manufacturing Engineering Certificate.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt II THU, SEP 26-DEC 5 Both the Lean and Six Sigma methodologies have been taking the business world by storm, helping organizations meet and exceed customer requirements while becoming more efficient and profitable. Lean and Six Sigma help organizations develop and deliver near-perfect products and services. This course prepares students to fulfill the role of a Six Sigma Black Belt, providing technical guidance and mentoring to Green Belts, Leadership, and other team members. Although this is not an exam prep course, upon completion of course 1 and 2, students should possess the knowledge to take the American Society for Quality Blackbelt Certification exam. Prerequisite: Successful completion of the UCLA Extension Six Sigma Black Belt Course I. Required course in the Lean Six Sigma Sequential Program. Elective course in the Manufacturing Engineering Certificate. Internet access required to retrieve course materials.
