History

FLOATMAX

A rapid success story Faymonville evolved from a local forge to a vehicle constructor. This happened in a fairly short time. In 1960, Berthold Faymonville accepted the challenge. Two years later, he built a production site for trailers and semitrailers. No easy task in a market dominated by the established companys and during an era of economic stagnation. Creativity and determination were the keys of selling our products all over Europe. Quality and reliabilty are since ever well known as our main strengths. Our numerous clients always appreciated these virtues. In 1977, our first inloader for the transport of glass was lighter and cheaper than its rival product. Since then, the Floatmax is one of our most important products. Recently, an all new and ultra-modern production line was put into operation. Highly skilled staff and the technical know-how guarantee the client an optimal inloader for transport of glass.

Advanced load fixing Our clients may choose the Meca Push system (patent by Faymonville) or the traditional hydraulic load-fixing system. The difference: Additionally to the hydraulic load-fixing system, Meca Push provides a mechanical fixing of the load. This frees the load fixing system from the oil pressure and ensures minimal movement of the glass. This system proved to be a valuable advantage in ferry-rail specification, because now the glass-inloader can be loaded without the tractor unit. Meca Push is also very well suited for short glass (4,05 m).

Additional safety and flexibility is also guaranteed by the electronic level regulation system (ECAS). ECAS always keeps the vehicle’s level at its position while moving on uneveness. The stability on curved roads remains even with a shifted centre of gravity.

INNOVATION The maximum choice of loading possibilities is another main advantage of the Meca Push’s horizontal claws. Their great adaptability guarantee a safe fixing, without additional system changements, for every possible load height on A-or L-frames.

Meeting your requirements Standard Version The proven Floatmax is available as this standard version and as a very long version.

UK Version In order to meet our Bitish clients requirements, we adapted the Floatmax to match the British standard. This version is longer and built for a gross weight of 44 to with 6 x 2 tractor units.

With curtainsider The standard version and the UK version are also available with a curtainsider on the gooseneck. The advantage: There is a rostrum on the gooseneck on which additional cargo can be transported.

Reduced use of fuel In 2003, our engineers created together with the Technical College of Aix-la-Chapelle an aerodynamic bulkhead for the Floatmax. The advantage: Over 100 km, three litres less consumption at 80 km/h. The traditional bulkhead creates an eddy which has a braking effect.

However, the aerodynamic Bulkhead is no obstacle for the air flowing smoothly over the vehicle.
