This cup is named for a friend of men’s rowing at Rutgers University. Edwin Bill was an oarsman at Dartmouth College and the University of Wisconsin. He offered the cup for competition among the institutions of Boston University, Dartmouth, and Rutgers beginning in 1941. The series was interrupted by World War II and did not resume for 22 years. Rutgers coach Bill Leavitt was responsible for the resumption of the race for the cup in 1964. Boston University has participated in every cup race. Dartmouth did not compete in 1987. Randy “Jabo” Jablonic was head coach for the Badgers from 1969 to 1997. This cup is named for a friend of men’s rowing at Rutgers University. Edwin Bill was an oarsman at Dartmouth College and the University of Wisconsin. He offered the cup for competition among the institutions of Boston University, Dartmouth, and Rutgers beginning in 1941. The series was interrupted by World War II and did not resume for 22 years. Rutgers coach Bill Leavitt was responsible for the resumption of the race for the cup in 1964. Boston University has participated in every cup race. Dartmouth did not compete in 1987.
