Fisher Towers, C o tton ta il Tower, Trick o f the Tail. From S epte m b er 9 to 12, Jeremy Aslaksen and I climbed a new route on the no rth face of Cottontail Tower in the Fisher Towers: Trick of the Tail, V 5.10+ A3. Jeremy h a d sp e n t a w e e k e n d s c o p in g th e to w e r for new routes and eventually found a way to reach the u pper cracks on the face with limited drilling. We s t a r te d 100' rig h t o f West Side Story and, after a high bolt off the grou nd , fo llo w e d r i g h t - t r e n d i n g c ra c k s fo r tw o p itc h e s to a le dge on the r o u te R o ad Kill. We followed Road Kill for 20', before again h e a d in g o u t r i g h t u sin g t h i n P e c k e r seam s. I led th e n e x t p itc h , w hich started with a dicey traverse (5.10+) above a roof. The traverse ends at the start of the u p pe r crack system that leads up th e c e n te r o f th e face to ju s t before the s h o u l d e r h o r n belay on Brer Rabbit. We followed the no rm al sh ort last pitch to th e top o f C o tto n ta il. As w ith m o s t new F ish er Towers routes, bring lots of Peckers in all sizes.
