By Curt Smothers In case you’re wondering about the title to this eBook, Flash Fiction denotes very short stories, as opposed to short stories about, uh, flashers. The first 17 pieces here are bits I published on the Helium writer’s site. Most are about as long as the average joke, and I even based one or two of them on jokes I heard during my time in the Navy. Someday I intend to jot down every great joke I ever heard and compile them for posterity. (If you’ve missed the one with the punchline, “I’ve come to seize her berry, not praise it,” you’ll need to buy the The Smothers eBook of Navy Jokes when I get around to working on it.) In the meantime, I’ve also included two longer short stories, some embellished memoirs—which are mostly true, except in the parts that would have made me look bad—and two (I hope you’ll agree) humorous satire pieces.
