Christine Bestland – M ercyhurst Senior; Forward; Brunkild, Manitoba Senior  Christine  Bestland  tallied  a  goal  and  two  assists  in  the  split  over  Minnesota  State  –  Mankato   over  the  weekend.    On  Friday,  Bestland  scored  the  first  goal  of  the  contest  then  turned  around  on   Saturday  and  assisted  the  first  two  goals  of  the  game.    In  total  Bestland  scored  three  points  in  the   weekend,  taking    a  total  of  17  shots,  and  was  +1.  After  scoring  three  points  this  weekend,  Bestland   improves  to  a  eight  game-­‐scoring  streak.    Bestland’s  career  best  is  eleven  set  her  sophomore   season.

Brooke Peden – Lindenwood Sophomore; Defensemen; Minburn, Alberta Brooke  Peden  had  a  hand  in  every  Lindenwood  goal  during  the  team’s  series  against  Bemidji  State.   In  the  team’s  opener,  she  assisted  on  a  pair  of  power-­‐play  goals.  In  game  two  of  the  series,  she   scored  her  first  collegiate  goal,  a  power-­‐play  goal  that  helped  Lindenwood  tie  the  Beavers  1-­‐1.

Jillian Skinner – M ercyhurst Freshman; Defensemen; Markham, Ontario Freshman  Jillian  Skinner  marked  two  assists  against  Minnesota  State-­‐  Mankato  throughout  the   weekend.    Skinner’s  first  collegiate  point  was  notched  on  Friday’s  game  during  the  second   Mercyhurst  goal.    On  Saturday,  Skinner  contributed  on  the  first  goal  and  only  Mercyhurst  power-­‐ play  goal  of  the  weekend.

Nicole  Hensley  had  a  .940  save  percentage  and  a  1.92  GAA  in  last  week’s  series  against  Bemidji   State.  In  the  opening,  she  made  36  saves  in  39  chances.  She  then  made  27  of  28  saves  in  a  1-­‐1   tie  on  Saturday.  Two  of  those  saves  came  in  the  overtime  period.  Out  of  the  four  goals  she  allowed,   two  came  on  Bemidji  State’s  power  play  and  another  came  seconds  after  a  power  play  ended   before  the  skater  could  return  to  action.

2013-14 COLLEGE H OCKEY AMERICA H ONOR R OLL Amanda  Makela  –  Mercyhurst  (Junior,  GK,  Thunder  Bay,  Ontario)  -­‐  Junior  goaltender  Amanda  Makela  went  1-­‐1  over  the  weekend   against  Minnesota  State  –  Mankato.    She  allowed  a  combined  six  goals  and  47  saves.    She  has  a  3.08  goals  against  average  and  a  .887   save  percentage.    Makela  also  contributed  The  seventh-­‐ranked  Mercyhurst  University  women’s  hockey  team  split  against   814-824-2525 Minnesota  State  –Mankato  over  the  first  weekend  of  competition.    In  game  one,  senior   captain  Christine  Bestland  tallied  her  first  goal  of  the  season,  with  an  assist  by  junior   Penn State goaltender  Amanda  Makela.    In  the  second  period,  Senior  Kaleigh  Chippy  notched  her  first   Jeremy Fallis goal  of  the  season  and  the  equalizer  from  freshman  Jillian  Skinner  and  junior  Shelby  Bram.     [email protected] Unfortunately,  the  Mavericks  scored  two  goals  at  the  start  of  the  third  for  Mercyhurst  to  fall  4-­‐ 814-865-1757 2.    In  game  two,  the  Lakers  pulled  out  a  3-­‐2  win  after  holding  off  another  Mavericks’  late   offensive  rush  in  the  third  period.    Sophomore  Jenna  Dingeldein  gave  Mercyhurst  an  early   Robert Morris lead,  scoring  two  goals  almost  two  minutes  apart  from  each  other  (7:03  &  8:59).    Bestland   Ethan Woy assisted  both  goals,  with  Skinner  and  Bram  adding  an  assist  a  piece.    After  scoring  three  points   [email protected] this  eventual  game   winner  at  the  15:52  mark  of  the  second,  with  freshman  Taylor  Accursi  and  sophomore  Jaclyn   Arbour  adding  assists.       RIT Goaltender  Amanda  Makela  played  116:55  minutes  throughout  the  entire  weekend.    Makela   Joe Venniro allowed  six  goals  and  made  47  saves  in  the  weekend  split.       [email protected] The  Lakers  will  host  Ohio goal  scorers  from  a  year  ago  including  All-­‐CHA  Rookie  Team  selection  Shannon  Yoxheimer  (31     points)…Goaltender  Nicole  Paniccia  will  play  her  final  season  of  college  hockey  after  saving  1,028   saves  last  season.  Paniccia  has  stop  1,696  pucks  in  her  collegiate  career  between  the  pipes…Penn   State  is  once  again  led  by  captain  Taylor  Gross,  who  scored  seven  goals,  15  assists  and  22  points   last  year.  Her  assistant  captains  are  seniors  Jenna  Welch  and  Lindsay  Reihl  as  well  as  sophomore   Jordin  Pardoski…Penn  State  takes  on  Quinnipiac  next  week  in  Hamden,  Conn.     Robert  Morris  –  After  defeating  the  Toronto  Jr.  Aeros,  6-­‐2,  on  Sunday  in  their  only  exhibition  contest,  the  Colonials'  regular  season   begins  on  Friday  with  a  two-­‐game  home  series  against  RPI.  RMU  went  1-­‐0-­‐1  against  the  Engineers  last  season,  defeating  them  3-­‐2  in   the  first  game  behind  Thea  Imbrogno's  multi-­‐point  game  (1  goal,  1  assist),  and  tying  them  1-­‐1  in  the  second.  The  Colonials  are  at  home   for  three  of  their  first  four  regular  season  weekends,  as  they  host  Boston  University,  Vermont,  and  the  aforementioned  RPI  squad.   Sandwiched  in  between  opening  weekend  and  their  series  with  the  Terriers  is  a  road  trip  to  Bemidji,  Minn.  to  face  Bemidji  State.   The  single  exhibition  game  with  the  Aeros  marked  the  first  time  since  2010-­‐11  that  RMU  played  less  than  two  exhibition  contests.
