My Brothers, My name is Fred Anger, and I have the honor of being the secretary of the Iota Iota chapter of Delta Tau Delta. I would like to take this opportunity to A new job that I have absorbed as secretary is an overseer of a new web program called "DeltsConnect". It is much like Facebook or Twitter in a sense that it connects all of the Delts within our chapter, old and new. The active members are required to use this as a source of mass communication, logging of service hours, and document sharing, such as our chapter minutes. If you may have noticed, alumni are no longer receiving the chapter minutes via DeltMail. Reason being, as of the start of the spring 2014 semester, the minutes are only posted on DeltsConnect. You may ask, "How can I view the minutes?" The answer is simple. As alumni of the chapter, you have access to an account. If you would like to maintain access to the chapter minutes, and keep contact info updated online, please contact me with this interest so we can give you access . Even though we won't be" hounding" you all to use it as we do the active members, it would be great if you accessed it as an easy way to maintain contact with you all. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me with any questions. Fraternally, Fredrick Anger, Corresponding Secretary

Throughout all of the praise and accolades that Iota Iota has accumulated over the last year, the successes could not have been achieved without the foundation our alumni set forth. Iota Iota faced some challenges in 2013, but we were able to push forth and produce a chapter focused on leading lives of excellence. With the effective guidance of our former head advisor Ajay Singh and current head advisor Ken Tubbs, we were able to lay down a template for effective leadership, recruitment, and lives centered on our personal values. After an successful term by Josh Bryant and the 2012 Iota Iota chapter, we aimed to better the community, the lives of those around us and we were motivated to produce a chapter centered on progressive change. We learned that in order for Iota Iota to progress and continue to grow we needed to never settle for complacency. We learned to celebrate our small victories, hold ourselves accountable to the oath we swore to protect, and live mature lives modeled after the men who came before us. Receiving the Hugh Shields Award at the 2014 Delta Tau Delta Northern Division Conference was truly a blessing. However, the greatest honor Iota Iota could have possibly received at the Northern Division Conference was being able to share insight into how our chapter operates to younger and struggling chapters. Iota Iota prides itself on our ability to not only perform according to the standards we implemented but also on our ability to teach others on how to achieve success within our lives, our chapter, and amongst our future generations. I would like to thank the alumni again for their dedication and contributions not only throughout their time as an undergraduate but also through their time as alumni. Fraternally, Anthony DeLeonibus Jr.

The Presidential Address: A Letter From Our Newly Elected President Dear Brothers,

I am honored to have been elected to serve as chapter president of Iota Iota for this 2014 term, and am excited to work with the new executive board to take our chapter to new heights. In December, the elections for the executive board were competitive with multiple, qualified candidates running for the executive positions. Watching the numerous men of Iota Iota run for these positions was inspiring because it demonstrated the passion that these men have for Delt. It is our hope that this willingness to be actively involved within the chapter increases as our chapter continues to expand. The chapter and I have the utmost confidence in the young men elected to the executive board because they display great Delta Tau Delta promise for our future growth and development. Looking back, our chapter was ecstatic to welcome back our three brothers who are returning from studying abroad in Italy during the fall. Additionally, Iota Iota returned from the Northern Division Conference with our morals high from with a Hugh Shields Award for the second, consecutive year. Looking forward, our administrative board has been planning the celebration for Founders' Day; Invitations have been sent out, and the date is set for April 12th. We hope to see everyone there. Lastly, I would like to thank our alumni for their continued interest and engagement with our chapter. Fraternally, Alexander Wells 5

The Move to Hamlin: Delts Get Another New Floor Dear Brothers New and Old, After a short three semesters in Campion, John Carroll Residence Life has decided to move the Delts to another new building. This time, we are being accompanied by Kappa Alpha Theta, Chi Omega, and Gamma Phi Beta into our new home in the Fall: the now-all-Greek Hamlin Hall. This move is accompanied by a myriad of unanticipated changes, not the least of which being that our new floor will only have 16 beds as opposed to our usual 30, and currently does not have an elbow lounge. Thankfully, Residence Life is being as accommodating as possible, and talks of Delts having sole access to the (currently public) basement octagon lounge. Needless to say, however, not everyone was initially very happy to hear about the change; considering 3S Campion has been our home for such a short amount of time, news of this move was sudden and unexpected. However, while many of the changes with regard to this move may be difficult to adjust to, there are pros alongside the cons: for instance, we will no longer have difficulty filling our floor entirely with members, which will result in more members being able to move off campus in their junior and senior years. In addition, having an entirely Greek building will (hopefully) foster better inter-chapter relations, and lead to a more tight-knit Greek community. Overall, while the move may have its benefits and detriments, the move to the basement of Hamlin will hopefully lead to growth as a chapter and Greek community as a whole. Dear Brothers, I have started a new chapter in my involvement with Iota Iota as an assistant chapter advisor. I will be sharing my experiences from undergrad and new perspective as an alumnus in the working world to provide the chapter with new ideas and challenges. Iota Iota’s continued success under the current leadership of Ken, Dan, Zach and Taylor makes me excited for the future of this chapter. I have been charged with leading Iota Iota’s initiatives in Philanthropy, Ritual and the planning of Iris Ball. It is my goal that Iota Iota grows in its traditions but continues to define how our members grow into better men than they were yesterday. Rah Rah Delta, Mark Johnson

Alumnus Spotlight: Bill Mather Brothers, When asked to write an alumni article for The Crescent, I was given an opportunity to reflect on my life over the past few years. After graduating from John Carroll, I asked myself, “am I still living a life of excellence?” When I left John Carroll, I moved to New Orleans, which seemed like a great place to start the next chapter of my life. After a referral from another Delt alum, I worked for a year at Harry's Dive Shop, followed by entering into a full-time MBA program at Loyola University New Orleans, which I should finish in December of this year. Now, I work as an entrepreneurial consultant with the Louisiana Small Business Development Center. Over the past 3 and a half years, I have had the chance to travel to Russia, dive with manatees in Florida, and catch more beads than I can count from parade floats during Mardi Gras. I've had an exciting and busy couple of years to be sure. New Orleans encourages an attitude of work hard and play harder, which I strive to do every day, guided by the virtues I solemnly swore to uphold during our sacred ritual. Life post-graduation can be interesting and sometimes intimidating, but it will be a great ride once you rise to meet the challenge. Never forget that the virtues of Truth, Courage, Faith and Power are pillars upon which you can shape your life. My time with Iota Iota chapter gave me the conviction to step forward and seize the life I wish to lead for myself. A life of excellence. Karnea is being held in New Orleans this summer. I'll be in attendance and I hope to see some of you there! Make sure you contact me if you're planning on traveling and staying here, as I'd love to catch up with old friends and new brothers alike. As is said often down here, Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Fraternally, Bill Mather '10 7
