Newsletter Friday 12th February 2016 Excellence through courage, honesty, respect and friendship
Dear Families, Thank you for your support over this dark and busy winter term. Having just finished Term 3 Pupil Progress Meetings with teachers, it is clear that the children are working really hard and at this mid-point in the year, a lot of our children are on-track to make really good progress which is fantastic. It was great to see many of you at parent consultations this week. If your children are in Mount Kilimanjaro or Blencathra and you were unable to meet with your child’s class teacher, we will identify some days early next term for this to happen and let you know. Equally, if you were unable to see your class teacher for other reasons, please get in touch with us and we will endeavour to find a time for you to come in and discuss how things are going. We were pleased to welcome back Deacon Ellie from Witney’s Methodist Church this week – she led a pancake-flipping assembly on Shrove Tuesday. As well as thinking about Lent and pancakes, the children have also been learning a lot about: staying safe online, innovative and enterprising teamwork (as part of Dragon’s Den Day) and how quickly fires can spread (in Key Stage 1’s re-creation of the ‘Great Fire of London’ on the playground) – see reverse for photographs. We will return on Monday 22nd February to Family Week which ties in with our Value of the Month: Caring. Family Week will give us an opportunity to celebrate the role of families in caring for children, consider what family means to different people and celebrate diversity within families and in the wider community. There will be a chance for you to join us when children design/make their own family crests (more information to follow) and the week will end with a Community Big Breakfast on Friday 26th February (8-8.40am). If you haven’t already seen a booking form, you can collect one from the office to pre-order what you would like to eat.
