Dear Parents/Carers,

Friday 25th November 2016

As you can imagine it’s now full speed ahead with preparations as Christmas is approaching. The children are learning their songs for their Nativity and Carol performances and are getting really excited. To kick off the festivities we have our Christmas Fayre next Saturday 3rd December. We’re excited to share that this year it will be held across both schools to maximise use of the whole school site and make the event as enjoyable as possible. We best get decorating!

Do you run a small business? Arts? Crafts? Baking? Come and set up a stall at our Christmas Fayre on Saturday 3rd December from 2pm - 5pm and be part of the festivities!

Thank you for your continued support. Mr Lacey Headteacher

£10 per table Please let us know by Wednesday 30th at the latest. Limited space available.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE UPDATE Buckin’ Reindeer - Teacher vs. Teacher

Vote for the teacher who can stay on the longest!

Contenders from the Infant School are: Mr Lacey, Miss Chadwick, Mrs Summers and Mrs K! How to take part: The FoHS will be on the adjoining playground between the 2 schools every day after school from Tues 29th to collect your votes. Votes can also be made on the day. How does it work? It’s £1 to enter. You use your £1 as your vote and you get a raffle ticket for that teacher’s ‘pot’. If the teacher you chose stays on the longest, you win their pot!

Christmas Bake-Off competition Paul HOLLY-wood and Mary ‘Mistletoe’ Berry will be judging Holly Spring bakers to see who will claim our bake off prize, a Panasonic Slow Juicer MJ L500 (RRP £199). Bakes should be Christmas themed and delivered to the Junior School Hall on the day of the fayre. After judging, the cakes will be then sliced and sold. Have your cake and eat it!

Raffle - Friends of Holly Spring will be selling raffle tickets on the playground from Tuesday. They will also be available on the day!

Prizes include: Children’s toy hamper (worth £100), Cross Trainer, Professional photoshoot (worth £160), A case of bubbles, £50 voucher for ‘The Cricketers’, Soft Play vouchers and many more!

Applying for Junior School School Admissions will have sent an email to all current Year 2 pupils to give information about the registration process to apply for a place at the Junior School. Please don’t worry! We will help you . Add [email protected] to your contacts or safe sender list as this is the email which will have sent information about registration and also will send your offer of a school place. Applications are online at: https://oneservices.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/ccsenterprise_admissionsonline_live/ You need to register and then complete the application. Proof of address is needed at application and must be received by the application deadline date of 16 th Jan 2017. A copy of the birth certificate is also required but this does not need to be received until after the offer is accepted. Copies of documents can be handed in, or posted to School Admissions at Times Square, Market Street or a photo taken and emailed to [email protected]. Alternatively, school can take a copy and send to School Admissions. If you have problems with the online process please contact school admissions team on 01344 354144/ 354023. Please note, we do not manage the process here at school but are happy to help/advise. Also, please be aware that you cannot apply for a Primary School through this process; an in-year application form is required for this (available from the school office), and you will need to accept a school place at the time it is offered, rather than wait for September.

Y1 PHONICS SCREENING INFORMATION SESSIONS

Walking Bus - Meet at 8:30am every day

There will be a crèche available for the afternoon session.

The Infant School ‘Walking bus’ leaves from The Running Horse Car Park (to the rear of the school) daily at 8:40 promptly. Please come and meet us there and we can ensure your children get into school safely. To ensure the safety of the children we work to a ratio of 1 adult to 6 children. When we reach 12 infant children we will depart. Apologies if you arrive after this time but we cannot exceed safety ratios set by Government.

The meeting will share information about the upcoming phonics screening, how we prepare and how you can help at home!

Junior siblings are very welcome to walk alongside us but please be aware that we cannot take responsibility for them. Please bear this in mind when making the decision whether to let your Junior age child walk into school.

Where: Infant School Hall Date: Monday 28th November Time: 9 - 9:30am and 3:20pm-3:50pm (Same session repeated)
