PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE FOLLOWING, AS IVS EXTENSION POLICY HAS CHANGED: IVS requires that 50% of course assignments must be completed* to be eligible for an extension. *Exceptions may be granted for students with an educational plan (IEP/504) on file with IVS listing necessary accommodations. IF the student meets the IVS requirement above, then the student or parent/guardian must: 1. 2. 3. 4.
Fill out lines 1 through 4 of the Request for Extension Form (see page 2). Self-assess and indicate acknowledgement of the IVS requirements for extensions on line 5. Sign the bottom of the Request for Extension Form. Obtain the approval signature of the IVS Registrar at the local school. This signature is REQUIRED except in the case of Home School students. 5. Submit the completed Request for Extension Form to the student’s IVS Teacher PRIOR to the course end date. Once submitted, the IVS Teacher will review the document and confirm that the requirements for an extension have been met. If approved, the IVS Teacher will forward the document to the IVS Admin Team, who will process the extension and send a confirmation email and invoice. EXTENSION FEE AND PAYMENT: There is a $75.00 fee for a four-week Full Service course extension. Extension invoices will be sent according to payment responsibility selected by the local school. Schools are billed by default. In cases where the school has chosen the option for students to pay IVS course fees directly, the student will receive the extension invoice. IF THE REQUIREMENTS ABOVE ARE NOT MET AND THE STUDENT IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR EXTENSION: Students that have not completed enough work in the course to qualify for a four-week extension may, based on local school policy and/or approval by the local school, make a course drop request to be removed from the course with no record of the grade reported by IVS. The local school must approve this request PRIOR to the course end date. A student may then make a course request for the same course in a future term, or can be enrolled directly by the local school. IN MOST CASES, the student will be placed into the same course content section and their prior work will be retained. In some cases, based on IVS refresh cycles and section availability, the student may be placed into a new course content section and their work will not be preserved. There is a fee of $75 for a four-week full service extension. Extension invoices will be sent according to payment responsibility selected by the local school. Schools are billed by default. In cases where the school has chosen the option for students to pay IVS course fees directly, the student will receive the extension invoice. The request for extension must be submitted to the IVS Teacher PRIOR to the course end date. The final grade will be submitted by the IVS Teacher no later than one week after the extension end date.
Please allow a few days for the IVS Teacher to review the document. The student, parent(s)/guardian(s), and IVS Registrar will be notified by email whether or not the extension has been approved. If the extension is denied, the reason for denial will be provided, as well as instructions for re-enrollment if desired. If approved, a confirmation email will be sent with instructions for payment. STUDENT AND PARENT/GUARDIAN: Please sign and date below to indicate that you have read and understand the requirements on page 1, and to indicate your approval to move forward with the Request for Extension.
