GLOSSARY To make the Annual Statistical Report more useful and easier to interpret, the following glossary defines terms as they are used in this report. Air Carrier: Generally large turbo-jet passenger or cargo aircraft with either more than 60 seats or a payload greater than 18,000 pounds, operating under Federal Aviation Regulation Part 121. Aircraft Arrival: A landing or approach of an aircraft at an airport. Aircraft Departure: A takeoff or pass over of an aircraft at an airport. Airline Takeoff: Assumed to be equivalent to Airline Landings. Air Taxi: Generally smaller piston or turbo-prop passenger aircraft with 60 or fewer seats and a payload of 18,000 pounds or less, usually referred to as regionals or commuters and operating under Federal Aviation Regulation Part 135. Deplaned Air Freight: Refers to freight and express, with the exception of U.S. Post and passenger bags, that is unloaded at the reporting airport. Deplaned Passengers: Total number of passengers exiting an aircraft at the reporting airport, including local, on-line transfer, and non-revenue passengers. Enplaned Air Freight: Refers to freight and express, with the exception of U.S. Post and passenger bags, that is loaded at the reporting airport. Enplaned Passengers: Total number of passengers boarding an aircraft at the reporting airport, including originating, local, on-line transfer, and non-revenue passengers. General Aviation: Aviation other than military and commercial common carriage including business flying, instructional flying, personal flying, and commercial flying such as agricultural spraying and aerial photography. Military: Any aircraft operating in military service. Originating Passengers: Travelers who start a trip from Houston airports regardless of any intervening stops or on-line- or interline connections.

GLOSSARY To make the Annual Statistical Report more useful and easier to interpret, the following glossary defines terms as they are used in this report. Air Carrier: Generally large turbo-jet passenger or cargo aircraft with either more than 60 seats or a payload greater than 18,000 pounds, operating under Federal Aviation Regulation Part 121. Aircraft Arrival: A landing or approach of an aircraft at an airport. Aircraft Departure: A takeoff or pass over of an aircraft at an airport. Airline Takeoff: Assumed to be equivalent to Airline Landings. Air Taxi: Generally smaller piston or turbo-prop passenger aircraft with 60 or fewer seats and a payload of 18,000 pounds or less, usually referred to as regionals or commuters and operating under Federal Aviation Regulation Part 135. Deplaned Air Freight: Refers to freight and express, with the exception of U.S. Post and passenger bags, that is unloaded at the reporting airport. Deplaned Passengers: Total number of passengers exiting an aircraft at the reporting airport, including local, on-line transfer, and non-revenue passengers. Enplaned Air Freight: Refers to freight and express, with the exception of U.S. Post and passenger bags, that is loaded at the reporting airport. Enplaned Passengers: Total number of passengers boarding an aircraft at the reporting airport, including originating, local, on-line transfer, and non-revenue passengers. General Aviation: Aviation other than military and commercial common carriage including business flying, instructional flying, personal flying, and commercial flying such as agricultural spraying and aerial photography. Military: Any aircraft operating in military service. Originating Passengers: Travelers who start a trip from Houston airports regardless of any intervening stops or on-line- or interline connections.
