Dear Prospective Mustang: Olfen ISD is known as, “The Small School with a Big ”. We are located about 28 miles outside of San Angelo and 10 miles south of Ballinger. In 2016, Olfen was the first public school in the state of Texas to announce/implement a 4-Day school week (with an optional 5th day). Students who are passing all subjects and have no discipline or attendance issues are free to stay home. However, they also have the option of attending school to participate in enrichment activities such as: games, karate, archery, and field trips (transportation and cafeteria services are provided on Option Days). In the past, Olfen ISD has only offered grades PK-8th, but next school year grades 912th will be added in a very special format. Olfen ISD intends to pay for our high school students to earn an Associate Degree by establishing a “Dual Credit Academy”. Our high school students that begin as freshmen will end their senior year with up to 66 college credit hours and earn a college degree while simultaneously completing their high school diploma. We believe this is the best academic opportunity offered in our region, and we are proud to announce that we currently have space for a few motivated transfer students to take advantage of this incredible opportunity. Olfen ISD currently has an enrollment of about 85 students, and we intend on accepting only about another 25-30 additional transfers for the start of next school year. We sincerely believe that our high school slots will be very coveted, so we encourage parents with students in lower grades to secure a slot by enrolling at their current grade level and working up to our high school grades. If your main priority as a parent/student is academics and a college education, then Olfen ISD is here to serve you. At Olfen we emphasize respect and strive to establish a “Family-Like Environment” where each of our faculty know all our students and are here to promote a safe learning environment.
