Garden News Our garden season will soon be coming to an end for this summer but it has been such a successful year that we wanted to share what we were able to accomplish. We learned from our friends at St. Michael’s Pantry that the need for food grows despite the many efforts of so many. Our 3rd Sunday collection reaches the pantry at a most opportune time— the end of the month when budgets are at their lowest. In July when we arrived on Sat. morning to deliver the 150 lbs of vegetables we harvested, Peter Kennedy was already there making up the grocery bags to be distributed to those assembling outside the pantry which opens at 9:00am. There had to be 150 individuals this day. We ran short of vegetables for the last 40 families but had some potatoes from Food Share to give. We collected 1,028 lbs of vegetables so far this summer for distribution to St Vincent de Paul and St Michael’s pantries. We have tried our best to meet a growing need and want to thank everyone for their continued support of the 3rd Sunday collection and the garden initiative. Without you we couldn’t have done it.
