GCSE Dance Year 10 – Solo Composition Overview of Unit

This unit allows students to develop their own skills in choreography and performance skills, the piece must consist of motif development and be based upon a professional work chosen from the AQA specification. Students must then create a piece of choreography in the same style lasting 1.5 minutes as part of their coursework. WALT – Objectives  Students learn to recognise and understand the importance of analysing professional works  Students learn to recognise and understand how to develop motifs in their practical work  Students learn to perform showing focus & presentation skills  Students learn how to use choreographic devices in their work

Discuss overview of the unit/work to be done. Main – Watch a professional work, analysing costume, light, set, accompaniment and movement. Fill in booklets with key information about the work

Further research the professional work, to be able to gain a further insight for the solo interpretation.
