General Manager Hi-Desert Water District – Yucca Valley, CA Serving a population of 26,000, the Hi-Desert Water District Board of Directors is seeking an experienced local government manager to serve as its next General Manager. Located in Yucca Valley, the area is growing in popularity among those looking for a small town atmosphere, clean air, starry nights, moderate temperatures and a reprieve from urban stresses. The District operates with the support of 40 staff and an annual operating budget of $10 million. The ideal candidate will possess public sector management experience and exhibit superior communication and interpersonal skills. He/she will exhibit a servant approach to leadership with a proven history of being an effective steward of resources. The new General Manager will also be a gifted manager of people. Utility experience is strongly preferred. Experience with water distribution systems and wastewater will be weighted favorably. A Bachelor’s degree is required and Master’s degree and/or CE/PE registration is desired.
