Here’s how to peel fresh corn on the cob. Use as a cooked vegetable. Wash corn on the cob in step 5, not before. ______1.

Pull off husk. Use one hand to hold the ear of corn around the middle. Use your other hand to pull and tear off (in a downward motion toward the stem end) the green husk from the ear of corn.

Snap off stem. When there is a stem, remove it by holding the ear of corn around the middle with one hand. Use your other hand to snap back the stem, away from you, and pull it down and off. Sometimes the stem is not on the ear of corn by the time it is sold in the store.

Pull off silk. Using your hands, pull and tear off (in a downward motion toward the stem end) the silk threads from the ear of corn. Corn silk ranges in color from white to yellow to brown. Throw away the husk, stem and silk.
