This bus line services both Boston, MA and Providence, RI airports. It also services many ferry terminals, including the most popular in Woods Hole, MA. Most people utilize the Massachusetts Steamship Authority (steamshipauthority.com). If you are arriving on island via ferry, Vineyard Haven is the most reliable port to come into on the island during bad weather. Martha’s Vineyard is serviced all year by Cape Air flights to and from Boston, Cape Cod, and Nantucket. During the busy season, flights are offered by additional airlines and are provided to and from New York and other major airports as well. More information can be found on mvyairport.com. While having a car on the island would be a convenience, it is not an absolute necessity. The island has a public transportation system that enables one to get around.
