Growth Groups! Fall 2016/ Week 2: September 19-26

3: God’s Majesty and Jesus Christ. Read Hebrews 2.5-9:

1/ Connect - How was your week? Give a high and a low.

Verse 8: According the author, who is the He who fulfills the glories of Psalm 8?

________________________________________________________________

What has God given to Jesus? See verse 5.

2/

- How did you do in applying what we talked about last week?

Explore - Read the Scripture. (Psalm 8)

1: The Psalmist’s heart: Verses 1, 9: How does the Psalmist feel about God? Walk through each word. What is the significance of each?

- How does God’s silencing of His foes through the mouths of babies show God’s majesty? (See Matthew 21.16)

Does everything always look like it has been subjected to Jesus? When will that happen? Verse 9: What have we seen in Jesus? What is Jesus crowned with? Why did He taste death for us?

2: God’s Majesty and The People He’s Made:

How does this fulfill Psalm 8? How does Jesus restore us to our place?

Verses 3-4: When we consider the heavens, what thoughts should fill us? How did the sermon from Sunday help to bear this out?

Verses 5-8: What has God done for the people made in His image? What is the place he has given us? What are we supposed to do with the place He has given us? Unfortunately, what have we done?

How does He enable worship?

Pondering both creation and the cross should have what effect in us?

4: Put it together. 1. According to this passage, what should stir in us when we consider the beauty of creation? 2. According to this passage, what should we believe about human beings in general? 3. According to this passage, how does Jesus fulfill the need of these truths? 4. So…how often is your heart full of worship? How can we cultivate in ourselves the attitude of Psalm 8? 5. What is one practical way you want to apply this passage in your life this week? ________________________________________________________________

5/Pray - Let’s praise God for His majesty! 1. Pray that our hearts would be full of worship. 2. Pray that we would share Jesus with those who don’t know Him. 3. Pray for one another and whatever needs there may be.
