“Give Ye Them To Eat” An Integrated Development Program Mark 6:37

Dear Friends, We hope that spring has arrived for you. Tlancualpican is extremely hot and dry. We understand the rains begin in late May. But we too have signs of spring with the birth of 17 baby sheep–even smaller than the goats. I’ve learned that goats are very curious and sheep are scaredy cats!

GYTTE helped families (Yaslin, Blanca and Julia) finish their homes together with a group from McVeytown UMC in Pennsylvania, ecological toilets and wood-saving stoves in January and February. We won’t begin more homes until we get our house in order by a major repair of the kitchen roof which may take two months. With groups a number of roofs have been repaired/replaced with palm and they look great. The last group from Belmont UMC in Tennessee also painted the chapel and the guest house, put new floors in two ecological toilets and sewed new kitchen items.

This week friends arrive from Brentwood UMC in Nashville to accompany the women finishing their third course of study to be Health Promotors and we will be at their graduation at the Gethsemani church in Tlancualpican. In September another Brentwood group accompanied the second week of classes and that included our good friend Ed McDougle who passed in February. He had been coming for 25 years and was such a dear person – everyone loved his gentle, strong presence. He and others raised funds so that the group of 20 women could take the classes over 18 months. Our wonderful accountant Idida Perez who was hired by the Hendersons more than 20 years ago has decided to retire. She has been training Erick Marin Rosas who the Bishop recommended. We had a going away party for Idida last week and most of her family were there. We appreciate your prayers, accompaniment, interest and gifts and hope to see you soon. In God’s amazing love, Nan, Miguel, Cata, Clara, Ivonne, Liborio, Veronica, Chaly, Erick, Panchita, Estela, Lore, Rey, Marce, Carlos, Eduardo, Veronica, Cristian and Oscar
