ID lanyards are required to be worn by all middle school students. Glacier Point Middle School provides every student a school lanyard and ID free of charge at the beginning of the year. ID lanyards must be worn upon arrival to campus and up until the student leaves campus every school day. ID lanyards must be worn around the neck, on the front of the body, on the outermost clothing, and properly display their current Glacier Point Middle School ID Card. Treat ID cards and lanyards as school property – they must remain in good condition and not be altered. In the classroom, there may be situations, at the teacher’s discretion, where students may remove their ID lanyards to complete a classroom activity (i.e. P.E., science lab, etc.). If a student does not have their ID lanyard, they should report to Student office window after checking in to 1st period to obtain a temporary ID, which is good for 1 day. (This may result in disciplinary action) If you lose your ID and/or lanyard, you will be charged $4.00 for a complete replacement (or $2.00 for either the ID or lanyard) — the student is responsible for obtaining a new ID and/or lanyard by following directions above.
FAQ Why do all students wear badges? The badge will be used for identification, lunch purposes, library book check-outs, tardies, and most importantly student safety. How do I wear my badge? Students must wear their school-issued ID badge around their neck with a Glacier Point lanyard. Likewise, temporary badges must be worn on the front of the shirt or outermost layer, in the “pocket” area. Can I decorate my badge in any way? The ID badge may not be drawn on, be covered with stickers, or defaced in any way. What do I do if I lose my school issued badge? Lost or damaged badges must be replaced at the student’s expense, for a replacement cost of $4.00 for both ID and lanyard or $2.00 individually. These can be purchased in the student office, before school ONLY. Is there any incentive for wearing my school-issued badge vs. temporary badge? Students wearing school-issued badges earn points through our 5Star Student program and many other random privileges throughout the school year. What if I leave my badge at home? st A temporary badge must be obtained after checking in to 1 period in the student office. (NOTE: Wearing a temporary badge is required, but it may result in disciplinary action and will exclude you from the incentives). Students with temporary IDs will be sent to the rear of the break and lunch lines. Is anyone going to help me remember about my badge? Staff will assist by checking every student for their badge at all entrances and in designated student areas. They will also remind those without to pick up a temporary badge. Is there anything my parents or I can do to help? YES!! You can designate a SAFE, CONSISTENT place for your badge EVERY day. Get in a routine and you will ensure access to all the incentives we can offer you!!!
