God is on the Move!!! Mexico Mission Update Kid’s Kingdom, Imuris received a grant from the Oxxo Corporation (Mexico’s answer to 7-11 convenience stores) for capital improvements at the orphanage in Imuris. It has been a busy summer of construction with the addition of a tool room, a multi-purpose room, and a new boy’s dormitory.

The right hand door is the tool room, it is about 16’ X 16’ and after 16 years they finally have a place for tools and storage. To the left is the door into the multi-purpose room. It is 16’ X 28’ and gives an area for events and meetings other than the dining room. It also gives the kids a place to play when its rainy or cold outside. On our October trip, we primed and painted the exterior (Lilia, the co-director of Kid’s Kingdom, wanted “Cookie Monster” blue. I think we did a good job of fulfilling that request. We also primed and painted the sidewalls in the multi-purpose room, insulated the ceiling and installed the sheetrock.

This is the new boy’s dorm area. While we were there in October, they got the roof installed and are beginning the stucco work on both the interior and exterior. This addition will almost double their dorm space and is a huge blessing to the orphanage and something they have been praying about for years.

BENJAMIN HILL The last few months has continued to see progress at Kid’s Kingdom, Benjamin Hill. The roof on the house was installed, the floors on the interior were poured, the sidewalls were raised to meet the roof and the interior and exterior walls received a stucco finish.

Since we left on October 23 , work has been progressing at a breakneck pace. The walls of the side room to the house have been raised to accommodate the roof pitch. Doors and windows have been constructed and the exterior doors have been installed on the house (the door is done for the side room, they won’t install it until the stucco is done).

The floors have been poured in the side room and they have started the interior stucco work. Over the Reformation weekend they installed the roof and began the installation of the electrical boxes for switches and outlets. This is an interesting process when installing boxes in concrete block walls and it includes a hammer and chisel to beat a hole in the wall, install the box and then repairing any mistakes with a bucket of cement. This week, (starting the first of November), the tile work in the bathroom will begin, the wiring for the electrical will be run, the windows will be installed and the concrete for the porch will be poured. God continues to richly bless our work in Mexico and we are honored to be able to partner with Kid’s Kingdom in creating another Christ centered facility where children can feel safe and secure. God willing, we hope to begin caring for children at Benjamin Hill around the first of December. The first ones served will be some special needs children. Arturo and Lilia already know of 5 children who need a safe place to live and we want to try and meet that need as quickly as we can. th
