As a result of the Government setting the referendum date for Thursday 23rd June 2016 we have been instructed that school is required to be used as a polling station and will therefore be closed to children on that date. This now means that school will be open for children on Monday 6th June 2016 as our fifth staff development day will have to be moved to Thursday 23rd June 2016 instead. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you. Two staff development days remain this year Thursday 5th May and Thursday 23rd June 2016. School will be used as a Polling Station on both these days.
Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome back after the half term holiday, I hope you all had a lovely week off. Welcome also to our new children and families who have joined us this week, we hope you are settling in well and that you soon feel part of the Greenleas family. This week we celebrated our Spring POOCs (Pupil of Outstanding Character). We are extremely proud of all our children and once again it was a challenging task for the staff to choose them. Congratulations to our new POOCs! It is important that we not only help our children achieve academic success but encourage them to develop good character through our values and school rules. Finally, a huge well done to children in Y3,4 and 5 for the amazing projects you completed for homework. They are very impressive, you clearly enjoyed doing your homework in this way. Keep up the super learning! Regards, Mrs Sharon Edwards
World Book Day 2016- Thursday 3rd March 2016.Just to remind you that on World Book Day we would like the children (and staff!) to come in dressed up as a character from a poem. We aim is to get children thinking about poems they read and enjoy. Lots of exciting activities have been planned.
Parents’ Evening A reminder that Parents’ Evening takes place next week for all year groups. If you haven’t yet booked your appointment please contact the school office. Can I politely ask that children do not attend these meetings. If you are unable to obtain childcare children can supervised by a member of school staff for the duration of your appointment. For health and safety reasons children should not be left unsupervised around school. Thank you for your co-operation.
Stranger Danger It has been drawn to my attention that there have been a couple of incidents of older children being approached by strangers in the Wallasey area. Whilst nothing directly inappropriate happened I wish to raise the community’s general awareness of strangers for the safety of our children. In school we will be speaking to the children, in an age-appropriate general manner about ‘stranger-danger’. As a parent you may wish to reinforce the message with your own children at home.
