Job Opening-Facility/Grounds Maintenance The City of Auburn Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a fulltime facility and grounds maintenance employee. This employee will participate in the duties of the maintenance division of the park. This position performs, skilled trades, OSHA compliance and maintenance of park facilities and grounds. This employee works directly under the Maintenance Foreman of the Parks and Recreation.

Qualifications: Graduation from high school and experience in landscaping, carpentry, custodial, electrical, plumbing, minor repairs and herbicide application, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Performs ball field preventative maintenance, routine maintenance, game preparations, and clean up on ball fields throughout the City of Auburn Investigates vandalism and other damage to buildings and equipment to determine costs, needed repairs and reports information to Maintenance Foreman. Participates in the care, maintenance and repair of parks structures, grounds, and equipment. Performs cleaning of all park facilities, including cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, replenishing supplies, removing litter, emptying trash cans, mowing and trimming grounds Performs preventive maintenance and repair of park facilities and equipment, such as repairing picnic tables, painting, interior / exterior of buildings and furnishings, maintaining fluid levels of vehicles and equipment, sharpening mower blades, replacing faucets and lavatories, repairing plumbing leaks. Operates light and heavy equipment, i.e., backhoe, tractor, truck, mowers. Mixes and works with cleaning fluids, chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, paints, cleaning agents or similar solutions using normal and specialized protective gear. Interacts with a variety of organizations, such as athletic leagues, school officials, municipalities, etc. Participates in the safe operation of power and hand tools, edging, and weeding lawns, flower beds, and other landscaped areas; spreading seed and fertilizer; planting or removing flowers; operating, maintaining, and repairing in-ground sprinkler systems. Participates in planting trees; preparing ground watering and fertilizing new trees; using auger for tree planting; applying pesticides and herbicides by using mechanical and machine operated spraying equipment. Communicates with Maintenance Foreman on weekly goals, and project development. Ability to work alone and with little supervision.

Salary: $34,000- $38,000 Depending on Experience Job Status: Full-time position with benefits; some nights and weekends are required.
