September 11, 2014 Dear Parent/Guardian, Help your child succeed in school—sign up for FREE tutoring! This is a great opportunity to help your child without any cost to you. As a result of the federal No Child Left Behind Act, any Overland Elementary School student who qualifies for free/reduced meal plans can receive FREE Supplemental Educational Services (tutoring) to help him or her do better in school. Tutoring is paid for with Title I funds and is provided at no cost to parents. From a list of Wyoming Department of Education approved tutoring programs, you may choose a program that best meets the needs of your child (see attached list). These programs will provide your child with free tutoring that is individually designed to help improve your child’s academic skills. Need help deciding? When choosing a tutoring program that best meets your child’s needs, please consider the following questions: • When and where will the tutoring take place (at school, at home, or at a community center)? • How often and for how many total hours will your child be tutored? • What programs, by grade levels and subject areas, are available for your child? • What type of instruction will the tutor use (small group, one-‐on-‐one, or the computer)? • What are the tutors’ qualifications? • Can the tutor help if your child has a learning disability or is learning English? • Is transportation available to and from the location where the tutoring will take place? Learn More/Sign Up When: September 25, 2014 (Drop in anytime between 6:00 & 7:30) Where: Overland Elementary School There will be a second Providers’ Fair October 15th from 5:00-‐7:00 at the Central Administration Building, 3550 Foothill Blvd. If you would like more information but are unable to attend, please contact the Title I office at (307) 352-‐3400 ext. 1241 or
[email protected]. If sufficient funds are not available to serve all eligible children, priority will be given to students most in need of additional help. The deadline to request tutoring for the 2014-‐15 school year is October 31, 2014. Thank you, Suzanne Martin, Title I Coordinator
